China has made groundbreaking strides in combating desertification, addressing one of its most pressing environmental challenges. With nearly 27% of its territory affected by expanding deserts, China has implemented innovative strategies such as large-scale afforestation, infrastructure development, and renewable energy projects. In 2020 alone, China planted over 7 million hectares of trees, significantly expanding its forest cover and restoring ecological balance. Landmark projects like the Yimbo Highway and South Xinjiang Railway showcase China's engineering prowess in overcoming desert conditions, while also addressing environmental preservation.

China's efforts to transform desert regions, such as the Kubuqi Desert, have not only improved environmental sustainability but also provided social benefits, lifting thousands out of poverty through job creation. Furthermore, China's investment in renewable energy, such as solar power plants along desert highways, underscores its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting green energy.

These initiatives have garnered global recognition, with many countries, including the United States, taking note of China's leadership in environmental restoration. As desertification continues to threaten ecosystems worldwide, China's innovative approach serves as a valuable model for sustainable development and climate resilience.

By 1980, Deng Xiaoping had helped the Chinese people develop a can-do attitude, which they have rratified repeatedly ever since. The United States is dimly aware that its industrial powers are all on the decline. So it is far too late for Americans to even think about catching up to China. But weare so smug and self-satisfied, it will be a while before we can really come to acceptance.
