Bolognese Sauce is the ultimate Italian comfort food. This is a recipe we make on repeat for our family, plus it keeps really well in the refrigerator or freezer.

BOLOGNESE SAUCE INGREDIENTS:
►2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
►2 Tbsp unsalted butter, plus 2 Tbsp more to toss pasta
►1 1/2 cups chopped onion (from 1 medium onion)
►1 celery stalk, finely chopped)
►1 medium carrot, peeled and shredded
►3 garlic cloves, minced
►1 lb ground beef (20% fat), or use a mixture of beef and pork
►1/2 tsp fine sea salt, plus more to taste
►1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper, plus more to taste
►1 cup dry white wine (or red wine)
►28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
►1 1/2 cups hot water, plus more as needed
►2 Tbsp double-concentrated tomato paste (or 4 Tbsp regular tomato paste)
►1/4 cup parsley, finely chopped (or fresh basil), plus more to serve
►1/2 cup whole milk

TO SERVE:
►1 1/2 lbs papperdelle or tagliatelle pasta
►Parmesan cheese, to serve

Your dish looks beautiful. I love bolognese sauce on pasta! You endeavored yourself to make this look and taste amazing 👏. Pasta 🍝is one of my types 😋. I had bologenese pasta in Costa Rica. It's just nice to have the meat with tomatoes. Parmesean, oh yeah! Good job, as always.

I made this for supper tonight and it was amazing! Normally we use canned pasta sauce and it’s okay, but I’m never enthusiastic about it. This sauce was so delicious, I ate a few spoonfuls of it without noodles (for taste-testing, but then needed a couple more spoonfuls for good measure!). I went out and found the noodles called for, and they were perfect for the thick sauce.

The only change I made was I added a tiny bit of sugar (about 3/4 tsp) because my can of tomatoes was quite acidic, but that was an ingredient issue.

I have tons left over, so I’m looking forward to a few more meals before making another big batch!

It is worth the 2 hour wait!!! So good, easy, yields a lot and reheats deliciously. The flavor of the bolognese is unique and savory.

Made this last night and was absolutely blown away by the flavor! We used some of our home canned heirloom tomatoes and the depth of flavor was just unbelievable. The only thing I would change next time is that I will either brown and drain the ground beef separately then add it to the aromatics, or use super lean ground beef. Halfway through the cooking process I had to dip off the Deepwater Horizon sized oil slick that formed on top. Not a big deal, but worth noting. Overall, another fantastic recipe that will go into supper rotation. Love your channel!!
