is it CHEAPER to buy a PERGOLA or to BUILD one DIY style?

In this video, I’m going to breakdown the cost associated with buying a pergola from Mirador verse building one DIY style. I factor in the cost of wood, materials, and labor both ways. #diy #woodworking #furniture #pergola #outdoors

I totally agree about HOA, had some issues as well. We ended up moving and four years later we found house without one. One thing that could change it is to run for the board.

I personally would rather have a neighbor with a house painted with pink polka dots than be restricted by an HOA. I'll never buy a house that is bound by an HOA.

Problem is you asked them first. It's like them telling me I can't cut a tree down in my front yard. Well guess what the tree got cut down. Most HOA's aren't going to take you to court over staining a fence. Most don't even have the money to do so. They're usually people with power trips that enjoying saying no or fighting over everything. Like the old saying, it's easier to ask for forgiveness then it is for permission.

Hello! How are the posts secured to the deck? Only to the deck boards or do you have a footer below? thanks!

Great video.. how did you anchor the paragola to the deck, does it need a deck pole for support under the deck for paragola legs

Great video. I also learned the hard way when trying to assemble my gazebo during high winds....lol..the instructions shoud list that installers should always check the weather before assembly. Cheers

So Im a VP of a HOA. But first, that pergola/deck situation is 🔥 and now I want to do it. Back to the HOA part, yes to all of that. Everyone of us that are on our board are younger, diverse, and it's our community's first board. The president and I are big on nuance. Some of the rules made 0 sense to us, and since I oversee the ARC committee, we allow things that we know a more "traditional" board probably wouldn't. Like you said, boards help keep things from looking bad, which keeps prop values up and can even limit neighbor issues, but I think boards often overstep. People should be able to enjoy the homes and properties they work hard for.

I should start a HOA page lol
