The torque strut engine mount braces the engine against twisting, shaking, and vibrating when under load, and when load changes suddenly. The rubber bushings on the torque strut mount will wear down over time, and need to be replaced, even if the strut itself is in good condition. You'll know it's time to replace the torque strut engine mount when you feel vibration or shaking, especially when accelerating. This video shows you how to install a new torque strut engine mount on your 2010-2013 Nissan Versa.

This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2007 Nissan Versa
2008 Nissan Versa
2009 Nissan Versa
2010 Nissan Versa
2011 Nissan Versa
2012 Nissan Versa

As a Nissan service technician. I've replaced a lot of dog bone mounts, I never used a torque wrench. I just snug it up and give it a little bit more tightness to it

My manual-trans 2010 Versa has no such mount, though it has a torque strut underneath. Would be helpful to specify the transmission in the title.

My question is this. My wife's vibration dampener is breaking off and barely hanging on. Can it be taken off and driven safely until a new one is replaced? I have no idea what it is or what it does, I know nothing about cars.
