When we have a patient with a cervical spine disc bulge or protrusion that is limiting their range into flexion, extension and rotation, we can use McKenzie Physiotherapy principles and mobilisation techniques to help improve the ROM and decrease in pain. This isn’t for everyone, but with some patients with disc injuries this works extremely well. The great thing is about this type of treatment movement is it can be replicated for homework for these patients. This is mostly use for mid to lower cervical spine disc bulges and in ones that can be theoretically reduced.

I had disc bulge in c2-c3 and c3-c4 and felt like a I am constantly carrying a baby on my shoulders leading to neck and shoulder pain on right side.
I did this (8:50) and chin tucks only once before sleep. Boom! I haven't had any issue since😇.
Thank you!

Excellent demonstration using the lines helps to visualize your movements. Would you do this technique on someone who is a few days post-concussion? Cheers

Isn’t the retract extend technique done in a half kneeling position at the head of the patient for better head control?

I’ve got spinal stenosis and pinched nerve on the lower cervical spine on the right hand side. I’ve had nerve pain down my shoulder and arm and index finger and finger next to it have gone numb. My question is:- if I tilt my head back in that exercise won’t that just squeeze discs together on the lower right of my neck and make the trapped nerve pain worse ?
