How to Fix Your LED Turn Signal Bulbs that Don't Flash. Make Them Blink! | @WiringRescue

In this video, I explain how to fix your LED turn signal bulbs that don't flash when installed into a car, truck, or motorcycle. In short, it is because LED lights do not draw enough electricity (amperage) through the older style turn signal flashers to make them flash properly. The fix for this problem is to replace the older style turn signal flasher with a more modern LED turn signal flasher. LED flashers have tiny circuit boards inside them, and do not require the same amount of electricity flowing through them for them to blink. That is not the only potential problem that you may have though. The new LED flasher also needs to be wired properly. If not, the lights will stay on and will not blink.

Below is a list of the relays, the LED and non-LED turn signal flashers, fuses, the incandescent and LED 1157-style bulbs, 1157 style bulb sockets, and the 3 way toggle switch I used to make the entire circuit in the video work properly.

Thank You for watching the LED Flasher video!

My problem is that everything works great until I turn my headlights on, the the signals won’t flash. Taillights are all in one and not just bulb replacement. Any idea what’s going on?

I really like your channel...I’m currently wiring my 1955 Chevy and your channel is really helpful. Your videos are simple, well done, and content is explained perfectly. And the pegboard circuits are a great visual...thanks buddy, much appreciated!

Bimetallic switch. I literally just posted a schematic of that part on another video.
Far as the led pulse goes it just a bistable 555 timer ic. Square wave generator.

Reversing those wires could destroy cheap led flashing circuits that do not have reverse voltage protection. To be honest they should include a full bridge rectifier circuit with that flasher so as to allow it to work correctly even if you reverse the wire connections.

Thanks for this. Was fitting leds with a flasher and they were on constant. Was sure I put leads on same as the old unit too! Obv not

Why would my led bulbs not blink. I have led blinkers with led flasher with ground. Everything else works fine. They work fine when I switch back to regular bulbs. So my problem is not the flasher. What can it be? Thank you!

That means, if we can get a high current LED ...we can use old/ thermal flasher is it?

Thanks man. I followed your instructions and didn’t know why it wouldn’t work. It was because I needed that led flasher. Thanks again

This is the best video on How and Why LED lights need updated/upgraded Flashers. Unfortunately I spent several days wondering why, troubleshooting and doing a good deal of head scratching. Great Video, thanks!

Does it have to use two power switch relays? No way of doing it with one, that allows switching between left side / right side indicators? Might be a stupid question but not wired some before. It's for a motorbike.

Hi, thanks for the video. So the new relay style is polarity sensitive and blinks when connected correctly, but doesn't blink if wires are reversed. What about the old style relay? The one with the bi-metallic strips. Is it polarity sensitive too or does it blink regardless of how it's connected?

Ugh, no help. I already replaced the Relay Flasher, when I converted all my light bulbs to LED (2005 Silverado), took care of the "Hyper Flashing". Rear Side markers have a white LED (the housing is Red), everything works great. I want to switch to a Red LED (gives it a deep Red), but switched to 2 different LED's (both have a Red hue) and the Marker stays on, activated, won't Flash (Turn Signal). This also causes the Front Side markers to stay off. Hazards won't flash. My dash, the turn signal indicators don't flash either AND they are bleeding color (lightly illuminated even when not activated).
Tried looking/researching for other relays that can help, but none are given except for "Diode Dynamics LED Flasher compatible with Chevrolet Silverado 2003-2006, LM487", which I already have installed, that took away the Hyper flashing. I am stumped. Not a big deal, I guess, just that the white bulb makes it look "lite", kinda pinkish, while the Brake/turn signal light has a deep/rich red color and its making my ADHD/OCD crazy!

My question .. I have a1982 Honda sabre 750 .. I have a led conversion on it ... the flashers blink, turn on, turn off as far as I'm concern work .. but my warning light for the tail light keeps detecting a tail light malfunction .. could the conversion be affecting my warning sensor .. I never had incadessant on it to see if that still triggers .. I'm afraid they won't pass safety .
