Emphasizing the correct way the capacitor needs to be placed was great. Your video was thorough and easy to follow your work. Thank you for covering this topic. Extremely helpful.

Good job. Flux helps but also when ever you start soldering clean your solder iron tip and then add a little fresh solder to the tip. (This is called wetting the tip). And when you put it away same thing, clean it and wet the tip for storage.

I actually followed the video and fixed two drivers. It is a little bit difficult to get rid off the old one. In hindsight, it might be easier to cut the old one and solder the new one. Many thanks for making the video

Thanks for the video
I think the capacitor being compact with the transformer is building heat so if they're separate a little bit would increase its life span

Just cut the old capacitor off the leads and solder the new one to the old leads. That eliminates the risk of messing up the pad and is simpler to do. You could even use a crimp splicer if you don't want to solder (if it will fit)

I have the same exact light and the same exact problem. Now I know the solution. Thanks a lot.

I've got a HYTEKGRO 225 led with a 30w led "controller". I call it PSU. Anyway, it's got the same basic components, and my largeer cap seems to show bulging. Really glad to find your video. Also the cap source. Thank you.

Awesome vid, thanks. I have some string led floods that 2 flashed. I will try to repair them now.

Also, I have an led flood light. Work style with handle. It just stopped turning on all together. The checked the switch and it functions. Checked each led bulb and they all light up. What else do I need to check to see why its not powering on?

ive noticed on the regular lamp led bulbs that this has been the same point of failure across 4 brands including GE and Sylvania as well as offshore brands. all but one of a a couple dozen of these were a blown capacitor, seems to be an obvious deliberate point of failure.

Now if only I could FIND someone near me that can repair my LED fixture that just went out. I really hate this disposable society we live in.

Thanks for making this vid! I have a lot of these exact fixtures and LED drivers and it seems like the drivers were made to fail. In five years, I've replaced all 30 of mine at least TWICE! Have you found the capacitor to be a long term fix? Do you also have the impression that the fail rate is abnormally high?

EDIT: I just noticed you answered my questions on another comment. Thanks again!

U can always use a capacitor with higher voltage but not lower
And be carful with the uF have to be the same and If u didn’t find
U can Use like 6.8uf Replace it with 10uF it will work just fine

i became overjoyed when i saw your -tubba-flux . i have a similar one here myself, although it is a very small metal gravy boat, like a stainless steel one for a very small family of wee folks . this METAL construction enables me to run a heat gun or embossing tool and run the flux into liquid to allow it to resettle nice for easy pickinz and sooth my OCDs . i have been soldering (poorly) since i was 15 . i am 54 now and at this point, proud of my lead slingin skills . i solder often and happliy as long as i have my oateys boat . On a great day in the 90s a boozy plumber name of WILLIE showed me how he used Harveys brand plumbers flux and suggested i do the same when we were drinking beer at his apartment . i was amazed at how well a tiny amount of flux applied served to join two different types of wires together . After the day drinking with willie i never stopped using flux, although harveys is no longer around . i got a kentucky fried chicken bucket size of OATEYS paste flux for around 8 dollars and i am down to only one third left ! i often mention use of flux to people whose builds do not come up, and they ALWAYS say the same thing ... "my soddur alreddy has flux innit" horses - water . i always remove the flux using solvents like iso alcohol, i also clean my stripboards and pcbs with a wire brush and recut all the solder points after applying more, i rub down the dry board with it after using wet sand paper to cut oxidization off and i proudly display gut shots featuring the solder runs in a mirror like high gloss finish, my shit comes up like the morning sun, but boy oh boy have i taken flak from pros techs and experts about "doing it wrong" .suposedly the use of this flux releases mini black holes which consume your private parts .

Hi. I have many LEDs like this Flickering. However, I changed 400v Cap but still not solve the problem! what other things make LED Flickering?

Hi
I noticed that you are not responding to queries
It would be appropriate if you could teach the checking of the different components
Because flickering may be due to other components failing

Have you ever repaired a ring video spot light that has the same issue of the spot lights flickering? I’ve seen a number of videos showing where they cut out the spot light drive and replace the lights. Just wondering if the driver can be replaced and where would I get one from. Thanks in advance.

In your video there 2 cap in the driver, how you know which 1 to replace?
