Automated task didn't seem to work unless I ran with "Run whether user is logged on or not". Probably because I'm not solely using admin account for running everything and PBO2 Tuner needs elevation to start. The task scheduler needs to be started with admin account as well or task creation is going to hit another hurdle with user privileges.

Jesus finally someone just dropped a short, simple and understandable instructions instead of talking for 30 minutes about anything but instructions. Thank you very much.

WHo would've thought Adam Sandler was a rocket scientist AND a PC enthusiast? Hehehe, thanks a lot for this info. Really concise, clear and informative with no hype or bloated content.

My observation is that cinebench is not always enough to prove stability. I’d recommend OCCT as this can give you knowledge about which core is failing

MSI hides 5x003D undervolting in BIOS under item jokingly named "Kombo strike" that has 3 levels to choose from. Level 3 is equivalent to -30 on all cores as confimed in PBO2 tuner app. I run with that option with no issues for more than 6 months.

I did a -30 curve, PPT 95, TDC 60, EDC 90 on my 5700X3D:
Cinebench R23 went from 12380 to 13528
Temps from 86 down to 75
Fan is still running at 1700RPM but at least it runs cooler.

Have known about the PBO2 Tuner guide on Github in the description for some time now, that allowed me to overclock 5800X3D to 4.4GHz all cores through PBO with 1.0275 volts set from the BIOS. Immediate 10 celcius drop from stock settings before boot and 15 celcius drop while running games. Will be interesting to try your guide to see if this can be fine tuned further. Thank you for the guide!

5700X3D
Under volt check with cinebench r23
Stock / multi 13531 68c
Single 1349 45c
-15 / multi 13729 60c
single 1352 43c
-30 / multi 13759 56c
Single 1352 39c

Clearly for me -30 is the sweet spot

Unfortunately, with the PBO2 setting at -30, it froze during idle, so I’m now testing with a setting of -28. The result in Cinebench 2024 is 801 points multicore and 84 points single core. The temperature in multicore is around 66°C with a room temperature of 20°C. The cooler is an Endorfy Fortris 5. Before setting PBO2, the temperature was 77°C.

just bought 5700x3d recently. Doing this task and then compared it to the stock setting while running Cinebench R23

Stock - max temp 87c
PBO2 - max temp 74c

thanks for the brief but also good guide/tutorial

Nice video, Really keen to try this when I get home on my 5700X3D, do you use passmark much for testing or just cinebench?

you dont need PBO tuner anymore, if you have any b450 or b550 and update to the last bios version and you can actually use the curve optimizer of the PBO that is inside the bios( u still cant unlock the clock or overclock), i know... not everyone knows that AMD released this by BIOS update.

I'll have to try this. Your video titled 'Should You Buy a Ryzen 7 9700X or 7800X3D' came across my feed today. Glad I found it.

I just upgraded to the 5800X3D from a 3600X. What a nice improvement (along with my new 4070Ti Super). My main hobby is MSFS2020. Even the 5800X3d isn't quite enough. I've been considering upgrading again but since I watch that video, and the fact that FS2024 is due to be released soon, I'll stick with what I have.

Wasn’t quite the video the subject suggested. No mention of the 5800x3d, is it locked down as well? Only 4mins it’s not really that detailed.

I used the Github set up, but their Task scheduler settings wouldn't load at start up. Yours does. Thank you.

Good vid. The pbo2 app keeps setting the core values to -30 rather than -45 as I originally set it to.
