The Tesla Model Y SUV is the Perfect Modern Family EV

Tesla has been known as a builder of premium electric cars for over a decade now, but the one vehicle they have lacked for years is one that people all the around the world have wanted, a more affordable compact SUV. For 2020, the #TeslaModelY is here with a starting price of just under $40,000, a cruising range of around 230-315 miles, and way more expansive back seat and trunk space over the Model 3 in which its based. The #ModelY and #ModelYPerformance should rethink how a lot of buyers expect an all-electric SUV to perform and #Tesla delivered the car to buyers about 6 months earlier than they had promised.

Just a side note, the day we filmed this video, Tesla announced later that day that a tow hitch was just made available for $1, 000 bucks and it allows for a 3, 500 pound capacity. That has been notated in the video already.

My wife and I test drove this exact model last week. The speed and tech were eye opening but the build quality and materials used inside the car were very poor. Body panel gaps were not the only issues on our test drive unit. Ours had interior panels that did not line up and runs in the paint as well. I did not really look look at the back seat to see if it had the fitment issue others have mentioned nor did I look at the rubber weatherstripping/door seals to see if there were gaps where you could see the vehicles wiring.... again, something others have noted. This car sells for over $90, 000.00 here in Canada and while Tesla may get a pass on trading luxury for tech and uniqueness.... they do NOT get a pass on the poor build quality at this price! It’s like comparing a Lada to a BMW quality-wise.

If you need more space than the Model 3, this is better. And I prefer this vehicle over the Model X, because it does not have the troublesome rear falcon doors

The seats are not "kind of"on the elevated risers they actually ARE on the elevated risers. You can't kind of recline in the backseat, you actually can reclined recline. You can't kind of stare out the window in the backseat, you actually can stare out the window in the backseat.

I love the Stormtrooper look. I hope they add an option for a heated wheel, auto dimming side mirror, or ventilated seats in future years

Great review, as always. We’ve been considering a Model Y but can’t stomach the thought of paying $50k+ for a car. Our most expensive car was probably $21k since we always buy used, and we’ve kept our current cars for 8 years now.
