Soldiers FAINT during Prince William's Colonel’s Review at the Horse Guards Parade

A number of soldiers have fainted today during the Prince of Wales’ Colonel’s Review at the Horse Guards Parade ahead of the King’s Birthday Parade.

As a American military spouse I have seen several uniform military faint. It's sad as tho uniforms are heavy and hot. Hope those poor fellows are okay. Otherwise they look awesome.

10 collapsed today, one guard collapsed and got back up and we gave him around of applause but then an officer collapsed and got back up and was seen to by the medics and he carried on but 5 minutes later he collapsed again and was carried away

One trombonist tried getting back up and playing and we applauded him from our section. He was later escorted off by medics though. Goes without saying that everyone around these fainters carries on with exceptional military precision

I recall this sometimes used to happen at school assembly when I was a boy. We were always told to wriggle our toes and blink a lot!

In case any foreigners watching don't realise, fainting guardsmen is very much part of this traditional British ceremony. The reason they are made to wear big heavy thick black bearskin on a really hot day is to ensure they get a few keeling over.
