How British. “If you must faint, do so in a proper manner.”

The gentleman fainting at the Queens coffin is a member of the Royal Company of Archers. The Monarchs ceremonial guard when in Scotland. Most are elderly and not active servicemen.

US Army. People don't realize how hard it actually is to stand at attention for hours in the heat in full dress. We don't even wear bearskin hats, but it's gotta be immensly more difficult for them.

Standing too long with no movement at all will hv blood pool, thats why they faint. Poor guard indeed. God bless them all well always ♥️♥️♥️✝️

I fainted on parade when I was in the military! We were told if we fainted to drop to one knee first and if we did faint they would “drag us by the feet along the concrete” which was horrible. I don't know why they felt the need to be so unkind and abusive, but I didn't enjoy it. So happy I left that horrid place.

I learned in choir to never lock your knees while standing because it can cause you to faint. I witnessed a few girls faint in class and it scared me every time. It happened to a girl on the risers one day during rehearsal (she happened to be behind me) and I think I broke her fall. I hope that I did because her head was so close to hitting the metal part of the risers. I pray that she wasn’t hurt. My point being, don't lock your knees.

I was coming down stairs at a base and my leg decided to give up on life. I felt myself go down — but somehow — in a movement that even my superior and fellow sailors attest should be impossible….i fell *_UP_* the stairs.

Even when trying to recreate the situation, it just seems impossible.

The situation was bad because an officer said I had to be drunk for that to happen but witnesses said otherwise plus the breathalyzer said 0.

It nearly went to court martial — as the officer wanted to use me to set an example for “actions unbecoming of a sentry.”

Thankfully HIS superior, our captain refused.

The trick is to try and wiggle all the muscles in the body, toes, calves kneecaps etc. Takes practice. Been there done that

Locking then knees up and standing at attention is almost always going make you faint eventually. Its better to not lock your knees.

They should have a different uniform for the summer considering their job is to protect the king

They are humans at the end training would make it easier but it's still hard no matter what

I'd like to see a video of the English guard actually performing in those goofball uniforms. Actually defending.

I think if the guardsmen are so dedicated and loyal. To their service and the royals. The restrictions should be changed. For their overall health. Not allowing them to drink water and using the restroom. For long periods. Is kinda abusive.♥️💂‍♂️🇬🇧

You shouldn’t stand straight, bend knees just a little bit!!!❤️❤️❤️

As a RAFAC, it is highly recommended to tense your calves and wiggle your toes so you don't faint on parade. You're usually stood at attention for several minutes at least so this technique can be a massive help.
