In the Navy we have boats that sink on purpose and planes that crash every flight! We bring our own crap to the fight and don’t need the Army to find us a place to operate from!

Land based runways also are well lit and fixed firmly in place. Aircraft carriers pitch and roll with the ocean waves and so does the tiny, angled, somewhat lit deck runway. Imagine landing at speed on a darkened car sized area that is pitching and rolling in a black sea on a rainy stormy night after flying for 6-10 hours into and back from combat. Only the best and most capable of operating under extreme stress can pull those off
