Is Windows 11 24H2 Better For Gaming?

Does the Windows 11 24H2 update help gaming performance? I noticed that 24H2 seemed faster then 23H2 so I wanted to see if this helped gaming performance as well. I also wanted to test the difference in performance between AMD AM4 and AM5 CPUs. So that's what I did.

I tried 24h2, and I always got similar or less performance, but 24h2 always added 30ms of game delay. My VR delay with 23h2 was around 35ms. 24h2 was always 60+ ms.

My conclusion so far is it is a marketing thing to push users to upgrade.

Currently, some people are facing problems in 24h2 so don't know whether you should upgrade now or wait till next month for the patch.

24H2 has at least six bugs already confirmed by Micro$oft so far, so if your life is just gaming it's ok otherwise keep away from installing it for a couple of months, ah! and btw beware with Recall which is installed with this update even in LTSC versions, yet it happened to a friend.

Windows 11 vs 10 would have been better.

I'd say the improvement in the Lows is nice to have, removing some of the stutters. For me the bigger question is whether to stick with Windows 10, or get 11 onto my old AMD FX beasts.

Love your channel mate👍
One question when all these people do reviews of tech why do they never ever use flight sim 2020? As it’s one of if not the most resource hungry programs around.

Mine is on 24H2 and I didn’t know when I built a new rig last week. Tbh, not had any issues with it on my Ryzen 7800X3D/RTX 4080/32GB DDR 5 6400.

Only issue I noticed non gaming related is windows update cache files don’t delete. I have over 8GB and disk cleanup keeps reporting the same file size.

I have not measured the performance of the only game I play FORTNITE but I feel it so much smooth with less stutter on dx12 all low.

To my understanding, W11 24H2 mostly improves CPU performance, but your tests seem GPU limited which hides potential CPU improvements. I think the only way you could extract meaningful data would be to re-test with 1080p low settings to remove the GPU bottleneck, or to test with a much more powerful GPU.

still on win 10 22H2. I don't see absolutely no reason(s) what so ever to go to win11 in terms of gaming.

in the past I had 1660. I played the game (assasi creed) for a long time and knew the maximum fps. and when 1660 became old, Nvidia released the final driver and FPS increased sharply 140->160. I didn’t believe it, I installed a clean Windows and the old driver (140), updated it (160). these are artificial understatements from version to version, so that there is a feeling that the new one is faster than the old one. Nvidia could give me this performance from the very beginning, but left room for improvement. I hate corporations

It has finally reached Windows 10 levels of performance xD. On my system (11900K + 6800 XT) they fare EXACTLY the same. The difference is WIndows 10 is usable and Windows 11 is not xD.

24H2 deleted my calendar, and I need it, so I'm rolling back. I also noticed that Firefox takes longer to load my default web page in 24H2.

Will you be covering the Recall addition under 24H2?

I will be sticking on W10 until it'll become unusable because i cannot stand W11, hopefully W12 will be a big improvement from W11 otherwise it is linux time

I tried 24H2 and to be honest. It was absolutely horrible, and sort of made my laptop lag too. Only bugs that I found was when you scroll down with the mouse it lags a whole lot also the sounds would make crackling noises too. Went back to 23H2. I won't go back to 24H2 anytime soon until Microsoft fixes the mess they created with the 24H2 update. Honestly 23H2 feels more stable and I get more better frame rates with my games compared to when I was on 24H2. I suggest to all of you to stay on 23H2 and don't update to 24H2 until all the bugs have been fixed and corrected.

you can maybe notice those .1% improvements with a monitor that has good low latency like an oled
