So what you're saying is, Protestants weren't really Christians until they grew large enough to demand respect from the preexisting denominations?

Sorry brother, your example falls short. A basic definition of Christianity could be applied and frankly the group Christian was never exclusive, it was a description of people who believed Jesus lived died on the cross and came back and all the sins thing. This is petty, be kind.

Or you could talk about their blatant disregard for the Trinity, the endless celestial Space s*x, The cult aspect of it, or the fact they have prophets That contradict each other less than 100 years apart from each other.

An Evangelical might say Catholics amd Methodists aren't Christian. But that doesn't make it true.

Us other Christians do not get to vote them out. Their faith is between them and God.

I'm not Christian, nor am I religious, however I was raised Christian and I've done a lot of research on the bible during my lifetime.
Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God. This is what sets them apart from the other Abrahamic religions. Jews, Muslims, and Mormons all don't believe Jesus and God are one. The latter two accept him as a prophet, but not as the physical manifestation of God. One of the basis of Christianity is the belief that Jesus came to earth to die for our sins. They are followers in Christ.

God is not the author of confusion. Don’t fall into religion. Read the Bible. Accept Jesus as your Savior.

By this logic, the Catholic Church gets to decide who is or isn’t Christiane regardless of theology. You could have made a theological argument that Mormons aren’t Christian, but instead you found an explanation that isn’t logically or even theologically sound…

This is such a dumb circular argument that Im going to have to consider Latter Day Saints Christians unil I hear a real argument, not a bad metaphor.

This is a bad example. They aren't Christian because they don't believe Jesus is God and they also believe in multiple gods. . .that's why they aren't Christians

The easiest way to explain it is by saying "Yes" because we believe in Jesus Christ.

So the no-true scotsman and the ad populum fallacy all in one 60 sec video short...impressive Spencer! In your next video, try going for 3 fallacies...

This is a terrible analogy. And I'm someone who is ex-Mormon and disagrees with pretty much everything the LDS church lmao. Christian logic at its finest.

The word Christian has a definition. A believer and follower of Jesus Christ. Being a Harvard alumni has its definition requiring a history of attending Harvard.

A closer analogy is the person being or not being a college graduate. Sure, they may not fit in a specific subsect of that demographic, but they fit the larger demographic.

How many Christian churches are there? Catholic, Protestant, and others each with their subsects and branches. Each consisdered christian. It doesnt take the acceptance of a harvard alumni for a hisdale alumni to be a college graduate. Which is why the singular school doesn't work.

Does the church of Jesus Christ of later day saints believe and follow Christ? Yes. So, even if we aren't the 'harvard' or 'insert other college', among all the 'colleges' we are one.

As Christ said to "come unto me [christ], " we extend his invitation and gladly encourage all to come unto Christ.

I'm not LDS or JH... (actually an open and affirming methodist) and the definition of a Christian is one who believes that he died on the cross for our sins. I'm probably not a Christian according to most evangelicals because I do not believe the word to be infallible, but my religion is between me and God, and it's how I identify myself. The label is not the thing to fixate on within these two groups.

Isn't it the same thing between the catholic and the one in America?

Except say that you actually did go to Harvard, but other alumni’s refuse to acknowledge that you did. You definitely belong in the group of alumni, regardless of if others want you there.

Besides, if someone is actually trying to follow God, regardless if you agree with them, as Christians it is our job to accept them, and not say they aren’t your kind of Christian therefore they aren’t Christian at all.

I am mormon/LDS (it’s the same thing), and we are christian. Christian= believe in Jesus Christ and his teachings and are baptized. This is all that we do. We have additional scripture to the bible, and that may be what confuses people, but our additional scripture is still focused on Jesus Christ.

Feel like a better way to say it is that they may not be considered Christian if we’re looking at the nicene creed, which is what main sectors of Christianity (Catholicism and its derivatives (Protestantism), Coptic, Eastern Orthodox). They disagree with this creed and therefore aren’t part of mainstream Christianity, which is why many people don’t consider them to be christian
