Thanks for watching this video, in this opportunity we share with you our experience setting up dual WAN connections with omada routers.

We’ll also show you the options that you have for such connections, how many you can have and how important the USB port is in Omada Routers. This is a setup that in the past we also did with Unifi gateways and results were great too with the little limitation that the Network Application at that time only had the fail safe option and no load balancing was available.

Different from Unifi you may find a comparison between them with this short video that not only explains advantages of having multiple WANs, but also being able to configure other combinations for this setup and its benefits.

Thanks for watching our videos. Please subscribe and support us in this process.

I have an Omada ER605 v2 with the USB port and as of 1/3/2024, it works fine as a tethered port to my Samsung S23 from T-Mobile.

I just ordered this router for home-usage. I am going to use the wan port (my optic is going there), 2nd Wan/lan port is where my PC will be connected to, and i am going to use 3-4 devices on Wi-fi.
When my buddies come - they will connect 2-3 pcs to the other lan ports. Thats my idea :))))

I have seen your videos and they helped me a lot. I have a question, about ER605 router when using 2 ISP, is it possible to "fix" for example the access to a email server only using one of the ISP. I am having a problem we have an email server with kind of email intrusion detection, what is happening now is that server received a request for email check in one ISP IP and a few moments later other email check from the other ISP IP, and it triggers a protection protocol and then all email accounts get blocked. I want to use only one ISP-IP for the email check, is it possible ? Thanks in advance !

Thanks for sharing very informative videos. Do Unibuiti or tp-link ship routers which can be used branch office to head quartet setup such as cisco provided router to setup frame relay between two offices.

Thanks a lot for the video
I have a question...
In the scenario: an Office with Omada router that have 2 connection, and you have a web server in your office (or other service)
If one connection drop down, can the other connection answer for the office webserver request from outside ?
Thanks again.

Can you link this to another router like Archer A6? Or it has to connect to two modems?

I currently have TP Link Archer A6(also known as AC1200) router with Mesh Wifi Extender TP Link RE330.

I have a TWG 431BR and I'm just trying to get the other wan ports working for other devices like ps5. Already called support and found out I had to reset the modem to get new numbers auto assigned for the ip, and I had plugged into console by accident instead of wan2, so I'm pretty noob on this networking. The manual has print too small to read so I had to use glasses and a magnifier to read it! After completing every step, I only have internet on the pc but not other plugs and nothing tells me what to do now.

Hello! This a late response but I have the Omada ER7206 and I have load balancing enabled. I'm a bit confused on the ratio. WAN 1 ~400Mbps is faster than WAN 2 ~200Mbps what should the ratio be? 1:2, 2:1? Is the first listed one the primary? If I update either they both change so I'm a bit confused by it.

I have to modify these settings during work, but I can't quite understand if this warning indicates the clients on my network will lose their internet connection: "Modification of WAN Ports will automatically delete the current configurations associated with the ports, and the gateway will reboot. The controller will be inaccessible until the gateway reboots".

If yes, I'll have to come back in the weekend to perform these modifications.

All of these dual wan videos do the rookie thing by just unplugging a cable. That's not realistic, any cheap router can do a link failover. Even Asus. What is important is if there's actually no internet connection, you could have a working IP or even a dns relay trick the unit into thinking the connection is still valid. That's the problem with most of these "failovers" they simply just do not work that way or at least it's not as seamless as they make it. Then there's the whole failing back and not failing back prematurley etc.

Anyone can unplug/plugin a port, it doesnt prove fail over works. Leave fiber/cable/vdsl modem connected, leave starlink modem connected...then unplug THEIR connection and tell me the tplink is just as amazing lol it's not
