Even though Americans make up only 4% of the world population, the US holds a staggering 22% of the planet’s imprisoned individuals. Across federal, state, and other prison systems, there are 1.9 million people currently incarcerated in the US.

Actually the worst part is after the door slams realizing you won't be back out or if you have a sudden medical emergency like a heart attack at night and no one is there to help you

That's a life lesson and applies on the outside. "Don't lend, borrow or gamble and be careful who you trust."

Moral of the story: Don't trust someone who has the nickname "Nasty" lol

My friend was in the Feds for 4 years. He said something similar to the last part... show respect, it's like currency, be kind, kindness goes a long way, be honest, and don't lie, don't drink, smoke, gamble or do drugs and you should be ok. Oh yes, make friends.

An uncle of mine got into prison for illegal gambling, he told me: "When you entere they put you in a sort of welcoming cell at the entrace of the unit, you recieve and hand over stuff to other prisoners: mail, things, food, cellphones (under the eyes of guards). 10 days later he got transferred to another cell and the "unit boss" told him: " You are one of the most innocent inmates, we do not want any trouble, get yourself comfortable... sort of, and if you get in trouble you are out of here"

I’ve always been horrified by the thought of being in prison. I’ve never put myself in a situation where I’d end up there (thank God) but it seems horrific. The thought of being locked up in an area with people who have nothing to live for and are insane is just awful.

Kinda really gets scary with the line, “you are a number, not a name”. Literally chilling.

When I got thrown into a Canadian holding cell last year, the worst part is that all the officers left as soon as I got thrown in. And if a sudden medical emergency happened, nobody would be there to save me

Infographic has some sweet top tier content. How can you not respect the hard work they put into each video.

Depends on the state I guess, but they don't do the cavity search and look under yours nuts anymore. They have full-body scanners that do that for them.

It’s crazy how many videos you got done in such short amount of time. I know the animation isn’t THAT detailed, but I’d think something like this would take a week to make!

I had a close friend who went to prison for a while and he said all he did was read books and watch TV for the most part. It wasn't exactly the shawshank redemption, though it of course varies by state and prison I'm sure.
