Was your vision perfect until you experienced a head-related injury? Do you see double or maybe your eyes are sensitive to bright lights? You might be suffering from vision related post concussion symptoms.

In this video, Dr. Valerie Lam talks about some of the symptoms that arise after a concussion. As well as ways to treat these symptoms such as vision therapy or rehabilitation treatments. Concussions can cause many issues with our vision system, but it does not have to be that way! With the right treatment, your eyes can go back to where it was seeing before your concussion.

One thing not mentioned is, if you had a bad concussion your body may have had to re-learn how to do things. Sometimes is does not learn correctly. Two examples: I have is, one balance. I got my balance back but it was visual. I used my eyes instead of the normal internal system. It worked ok until the light was turned off or I did not notice a change in the ground. Second was the way my eye worked. If you moved something close to my face one eye would just turn off instead of both eyes crossing. This gave me headaches every day because my eye was turning on and off at the computer depending on how close of far my eye thought the item was. Both of these things took time to fix. The eyes where the harder because the muscles would not do what they were supposed to do anymore. It may seem hopeless, and it is just the way you are now. A good therapist can change your life. The sooner you go the easier these things are to sort out.

Wow. I was pushed into a brick wall during gym class when I was 8 years old in the 3rd grade. I had to get 30 stitches and a year later in the 4th grade started wearing glasses ever since. I still get bad headaches every so often. Plus I’m very sensitive to light. I may need to get my eyes checked again by an Ophthalmologist.

ever do any studies on people who smoke cannabis? i also had a concussion where i was unconscious. i hit my visual cortex. aka the back of my head. could marijuana effect your vision in not letting you get enough blood flow? i feel good when i prolong smoking but i've been smoking so long that I've just never stopped but a year after my concussion and im starting to have those vision issues. mostly after i smoke. i dont know, its odd. i use the cannabis to calm me but i can see how maybe it restricts flow
