Does Baking Soda Get Rid of Acne? | Acne Treatment

So lot of people like to use baking soda in many ways. Some people use it like an exfoliant and some people use it as a spot treatment for acne. So now if you are using it and it's working well for you, I have no problem with your continuing to use it. However, I have a couple of issues with baking soda. First of all it irritates lot of people's skin and when you irritate the skin you damage the skin and that can actually lead to more inflammation and more acne. Secondly our skin is meant to be at an acidic PH and baking soda is sodium bicarbonate which is alkaline, so when you put baking soda on your face you are actually changing the PH of your skin and I don't think that's the best thing to do.

I've struggled with health problems due to leaky gut for yrs which also impacts the skin, hence long standing acne, many dif treatments, nothing worked. I tried everything, still working on healing naturally, you get the picture. Started using baking soda a few mos ago as a substitute for soap, and voila! no more oily skin, clogged pores, no more acne, or bacne, my skin is clear! If I stop it comes back. I'm thinking of adding in coconut oil for moisturizing as it's supposed to be safe and healing and not clog. Fingers crossed. Don't be afraid to try.

You're totally wronng!-.- it depends on your type of skin. I think its worst using so products with so many chemicals. Baking soda helped me get rid of my acne in less than 3 months! Now my skin is conpletly clear. Maybe you say this cause you want people to keep buying your expensive products :p

It's true people have an acid mantle, but that doesn't necessarily mean we should. That's an assumption I'm not on board with. Read "Alkalize or Die, " for more info on the subject or just google. Most people are too acid overall, blood, tissue, and probably skin too. I know I am. This can be remedied by your diet. You should be slightly alkaline. I take Rx's which make it impossible to control ph. This is probably why baking soda helps, I don't know, I'm guessing.
Baking soda is an old trick for dissolving built up grease on plastic food containers. It's probably doing the same thing for your clogged pores. It is a chemical. So I don't leave it on long. Just massage it in a bit and then rinse, and maybe not everyday. It depends on how greasy your skin is.

My mother told me she used to use an aspirin. she would dissolve the aspirin with a bit of water untill it was somewhat liquidy and put that on her face. do you think that this technique works?
