Can Baking Soda ACTUALLY Whiten Your Teeth?

Baking soda can help reduce stains from forming, however it can’t make your teeth shades whiter. Only whitening products formulated with peroxide can do that. Also, brushing with baking soda from the container is not recommended because it does not prevent cavities that are caused by demineralization! So if you really like the idea of brushing with baking soda, it’s highly recommended to use a whitening toothpaste that contains both baking soda AND ALSO an anti-cavity ingredient (such as fluoride or hydroxyapatite) to help remineralize your enamel!

brushing your teeth even with just water and flossing is the best anticavity prevention there is, you don't need the fancy pastes, but baking soda is the ticket, my grandfather used it for 60 years and died at the age of 76 with his original teeth intact.

You wouldn't recommend it because then no one would go to the dentist and pay extortionate prices. I had an elderly neighbour before I moved house and he had his own teeth and they were pristine. He told me since he was a kid he brushed with baking soda due to rations from the war and he juat continued it throughout his whole life

I use baking soda toothpaste with a sprinkle of regular baking soda on top. This seems to work best for me, and if I don't include the regular powdered baking soda, my teeth don't feel as clean.

Hi Whitney, I've got my 1st time of Whitning in February with my dentist. The trays are being made by dentist and I do it at home. Hope it works 😁. I'm not expecting a miracle but 2 to 3 shades would be a great result. Whiter teeth look so nice.

I hear that bacteria grows in an acid ph and bi - carb it changes the ph on your mouth to alkaline which. I started using baking soda to help get rid of the stains from coffee on my teeth and I am seeing a difference already I also am using it straight from the container but after I use it I use normal toothpaste to get ride of the taste of the baking soda

Is there such thing as brushing too often? I’d imagine not really unless you brushed 5+ times a day or irritated your gums a lot. But I have always struggled with weak enamel and yellowish teeth (doesn’t help that I drink black coffee but been substituting for lighter shade teas). Where does the brush 2x a day come from? And how would you compare brushing 2x a day to say after every meal?

Thanks. I just got off my braces 2 weeks ago and I can't wait to whiten my teeth. The dentist said I should wait. Some articles on the internet say you should wait at least 6 months. The sensitivity pain has almost gone by now. Any recommendations? What is the worst thing that could happen if I whiten my teeth now?

I used baking soda on my teeth for a while. Just for cleaning not for whitening. My favorite all time dentifrice was Pepsodent tooth powder. Now I don't use toothpaste, just water. I floss with string, water floss with the pik pocket tip, and then brush with water.

So i tried the baking soda and ginger for the first time. Woosh! My gums where on fire. But i got a good difference after the scrubs. My yellow teeth came out milky. Hopefully i would get the white teeth if i continue for weeks.
