FUBAR The Death of a General on D-Day looks at the real story behind that depicted in Saving Private Ryan.
Operation Chicago would see the glider element of the 101st Airborne delivered to Normandy by the IX Troop Carrier Command C-47's in the early hours of D-Day.
Brigadier General Don F. Pratt was aboard his own glider 'The Fighting Falcon' planned to land on Landing Zone E to the west of St Marie Du Mont in Normandy.
Sadly, he would never make it on to French soil as his glider crashed upon landing, killing the General.
The movie Saving Private Ryan retold this story but changed the name to Brigadier Amend. WW2 Wayfinder brings you to the actual spot where the real crash happened and the memorial to Don F. Pratt ensuring he will forever be remembered in the quiet field in Normandy.
