I cried everytime I watched that movie.
Fun Fact: The German they captured and released and Upham shot at the end because he realised that it was a mistake to let him go is officially called steam boat willy because he mentioned that when talking with Upham about America previously.

The pilots of the Mustangs were Ray Hanna, and his son Mark Hanna. Both former RAF pilots. Both have since passed. father in 2005, at 78. Sadly, Mark Hanna was killed in an aircraft crash at an airshow at the age of 40 only a year after 'Saving Private Ryan' came out.

Watching this on the theater in high school. I was gripping the seat. It was like no other I’ve ever seen.

I was so mad at Upham when I saw this movie as a teenager. When I got older I felt remorse. Upham = us, people who live comfortable lives away from war. When he killed the german that surrendered Upham basically lost his last shred of humanity and innocence that was left in him. Even someone as weak as Upham will either adapt to war or die in it. There is no other outcome.
