I've talked to number of software engineers, developers, system/network/cloud admins and data analysts. It seems that not a single one of them is worried about their job due to rise of AI. The only places where I'm stumbling upon people saying that AI will replace all Tech people are YT and Reddit.

Ok to support Mike's video I have worked with plenty of various DB (OLTP & OLAP) by several companies and none (and by that I mean literally 0%) would allow connection to their data from external sources like GPT. Getting the access is sometimes very hard to get even for their employees 😅. Ok so you say let's use ML models running on internal servers or on Virtual Private Cloud. So who will pay for the insane computing power you need and even worse who will be able to create & apply those models? You need a whole team of ML engineers to do so and that together with the high security risk is an absolut NO GO.

My 2c: it might reduce the amount of data professionals that are needed by improving the productivity of competent engineers using large language models.
We say we aren't going to let chatgpt/bard etc into our data warehouses/source systems etc to work on our data, but how sure are we about that? Let's face it, most of our data is in Microsoft/Google's hands anyway - sitting on Azure and GCP.
Is it really going to be a stretch for those companies to convince senior management to allow chatgpt/bard etc to access that data with the usual security promises - to significantly reduce development and maintenance costs?

My opinion is that it will almost definitely come to pass.

Things/Subjects that you need to know. that you need to learn to have a solid foundation for career in IT Subjects that you need to know. Recommended resources/ courses for it.

I have challenged CHATGPT on 1. Window functions 2. DAX EVALUATION CONTEXTS ... It gave me inaccurate information in both cases. It starts well in explaining the general concepts but gets lost on nitty gritties.... Data Professionals are here to stay at least for a long time to come.

Sir i am scared that chat gpt like large model can remove 80% of job if not down right replace all big data job within 5 yr .
As yesterday chat gpt can write
1 entire data pipeline in airflow with snowflakes, spark, sql integration.
2 it can even write same thing in mage , databricks etc much more faster, can even follow design principles.
My question is why would employers hire 10 DE when they can do this with 1 DE.
