A plus for choosing this ship is, that it is said she is the very most stable ship of all cruiseships. Sea sickness is very rare. Also, if you use the ship for transportation instead of taking the plane, you indeed don't get jetlag.
For me, the incredibly charming movie "The Parent Trap" thrilled me and was putting a trip with this oceanliner on my eternal bucket list. They said it was the Queen Elisabeth II, but really, the scenes got shot on the Queen Mary. It all started my fascination with cruising to begin with. So, one day I WILL do this!

Wow Morgan positive thinking. I like it. Tick, tick and tick again for the reasons to choose Cunard, which is lucky/well planned because we are booked on QM2 for a roundtrip transatlantic crossing in August this year (not a cruise which often has a 'party' atmosphere as you mentioned on MSC, NCL etc and which we have loved over our cruising lifetime). Now for calm, dressing up, time to relax, enjoying the history of the ship, enjoying all the new and different things on offer and allowing myself to 'just be'.

The kennels are only open on the transatlantic trips, not all of the QM2 cruises. I would not recommend it if you’re just looking to take your pet with you as while they were open most of the day for visiting, it is stressful (the cats especially seemed stressed) and for our dog learning to “go” on the wood decking was a challenge (obviously house trained pets don’t normally do that one a wood floor). For our trip there were 2 types of pet owners there: those of us relocating with our pets, and the wealthier clients who split time between Europe and the US. One of the people on our cruise was someone staying in one of the queen’s suites and she invited all of the dog owners for a small party in her suite one night. She has a house in NYC and one in Paris, so she would travel back and forth a few times a year with her dog.

You are right - pets more comfortable in their own environment. That is why we stay at our daughter’s house when she and hubby away to watch over the grand fur baby dog and cat. A lot less traumatic for them being in their own home when their human Mom and Dad are away 💜

DONT FORGET QM2 also does a yearly world tour and can be a bucket list for cruises .

I just went to Schiphol yesterday to assess the situation. I wanted to book a last minute package deal. It's far worse than shown on the news.

Don't change your flight. There is a revolving 20, 000 passengers everyday that are continually being rescheduled. Your airline will notify you regarding your connection. Even if you change it, you don't know I either of your flights are going depart.

The Schiphol staff advised me to travel from any other airport, and avoid Schiphol at any cost.

While other airports have issues or delays, Amsterdam is the only European airport with a floating 20k passengers which are refused boarding every day.

As one that has been accused of being a fanatical cat lover, I have to comment on your beautiful Chili. I have a 12 day cruise scheduled in October and hate the idea of leaving my two fur babies at home but at least they will be home cared for by friends.

If you like Ballroom dancing you will not hate the QM2. It has the largest ballroom afloat. I’m so looking forward to my first cruise on the QM2 in January. Thanks for the great, helpful video.

Great video once again! Really helped me to get a better view. I’ll be cruising with them next year from Hamburg up to Quebec and then one week up there, because I’ve already been in New York several times and I’ve seen the major cities of Canada, now it’s time to see the beautiful nature up north. Just found you again after a few years of being "lost"... and I get to watch this video first. So much fun!
Just over 4 minutes in and already I'm smitten with the Queen Mary II... it might have to be the ship I take my first cruise on. The food, the learning opportunities, the quiet... these are all very attractive to me and my hubby. Oh... and being able to have our Bree (an English Shepherd) with us would be awesome. She gets so stressed when we leave for even short periods... which means one of us is always with her. We'd at least be able to visit with her daily on the ship.
After having a look at their site, I see that they have cruises all over the world. We would be able to cruise from Quebec to England... then on to so many other places on the other Cunard ships. I expect they are all of the same quality as the Queen Mary 2.

Your diplomacy is commendable. ;) As you know, you don't have to put a positive spin on something that you would, otherwise, not recommend. Two commercials where you said there would be: one for Evony: The Kings Return, and one for perfect memorials. Pretty baby girl!!!! Thanks for showing her!!! I agree with you about dragging your fur baby to an unfamiliar atmosphere purely for your own gratification. Poor babies!!! Okay, enough said. Two cents. ;)

Thanks very much for this video, Martin; very helpful and informative, as usual. We (my family and I), are embarking this Friday (8 July 2022), from NYC, heading across the Atlantic to Southampton. We are looking forward to just relaxing and enjoying the downtime disconnected from the net, reading, playing games, and generally re-charging after some real challenges just getting to NYC from northern Canada.

Great info. I don't think I'd hate the QM2 but I also don't think I would plan a trip anytime soon. I love dressing up, that part would be fun. But I don't like bland food ha ha and the activities might appeal more to me in about 15 years.
Ps the ad I got was for butt deodorant 😳 lol
