True fact: her crying wasn’t even supposed to happen she was just supposed to be really sad, then look directly at him for a few seconds and storm out but crying was her natural reaction to reading the poem infront of everybody

Normally I get annoyed by overly sappy speeches in rom coms or sitcoms, but this one really struck a chord with me because of how aloof and antisocial Kat was before. The fact that she was so emotional talking about Patrick showed just how much genuine love she had for him. As someone who also finds it hard to get close to others, I almost felt like crying along with her.

Obviously Julia's performance is amazing, but Heaths reaction really elevates the emotion in this scene. He isn't just blank, you can feel the epiphany on his face. Really great scene.

The way she breaks down is so true to real life. One second you're not crying, the next second you are. There's no artificial build up.

The thing I know from this scene, is that it's taken all in one take, like many of you guys say over here, and because it came out to be so natural they kept it *despite* the fact that Julia makes a little mistake in the poem when she reads: "I hate it" (1:03) and suddenly stops and reads the correct sentence.

It's 2019 and here i am still watching this movie! I fell in love with HEATH LEDGER with this movie, i love how JULIA STYLE deliver the poem in way you can almost feel her pain.😭 This is my most favorite high school love related movie more than anything else.
