If that’s what makes them both taste so good, imagine how good Mexican McDonald’s sprite tastes

Another reason all sodas taste different from McDonald's is their water to syrup ratio. Ever noticed after your ice melts in your McDonald's drink it doesn't taste near as watered down as a soda you'd get from somewhere else? They put slightly more syrup than what the original recipe/mix ratio is supposed to be so when your ice starts to melt it doesn't water down your drink and tastes "fresh" longer.

at both McDonald’s i’ve worked at, only the Coke is stored in the 75 gallon stainless steel canisters. the sprite is handled through a plastic bag that’s connected to a Co2 nozzle

as a person who worked for coca-cola. Only regular coke is stored in those stainless drums. the syrups and soda water are chilled from the back till they come out the dispenser as well as the mixture being slightly adjusted to account for ice melt when hitting your cup

McDonald’s sprite also uses a really expensive soda water SPECIFICALLY for the sprite to make it taste so much better. And if you eat the fries and drink it at the same time… mind blowing.

As a former mcdonalds employee, I can confirm that those stainless steel tanks do contain soda. However, the only store coke. All other sodas are mixed from syrup bags in the back of the building.

Real cane sugar in pop/soda is a game changer. Cherry Republic makes a ton of cherry flavored sodas (cherry cola, cherry limeade, etc) that are made with cane sugar and they taste incredible

No, the sprite is not stored in steel containers. Those are for coke and CO2 only. I was maintenance at multiple McDonald's in the STL area and they're all the same

The sprite and every other soda except Coke are from the same syrup bags most restaurants gets

I have also heard that the fries come with a salt which enhance the quality of the soda. Should try a taste test before and after tasting fries

A lot of research went into maximizing the sprite flavor. It was studied for the exact salt level in fries to increase the sprite. The water is filtered many times. It uses special sprite syrup

Is it just me or does Vlad with sunglasses drinking sprite and laughing look like a badass villain from a noir movie

Working in a restaurant for 4 years I can say the soda came in 5lb concentrated syrup bags and are diluted by a carbonated water hose apparatus. Since it’s actually NOT stored in any container like a can usually lined with an absorbent polymer that takes away taste, or bottle as a ready-made drink and instead mixed on demand when the button is pressed, it preserves the optimal carbonation and preserves the sugar from degradation reactions

I’ve also heard that the sprite goes well with salt/salty foods, which McDonald’s obviously serves. Try drinking some McD’s sprite by itself, eat some fries and a bite of a sandwich, and take another sip.

actually only the coke is stored in stainless steel. the other sodas are stored in plastic bags

i used to work @ mcdonald’s like 4 years ago. the only soda that was kept in those big stainless steel containers was the coke, and coke themselves would have to come and refill them when they were empty. this is because they have a whole different process of how the soda is stored and mixed with the carbonation. it was also ran through a completely separate tubing system to create a very distinct flavor different from caned or bottle coke. the sprite however just came in a box that had a bag of sprite syrup that we would connect to a big carbonation thing that all the other sodas(besides the coke) would connect to. the reason for the sprite tasting the way it does is that it is super carbonated so it just smacks you with that “battery acid” type mouth feel🤙

The reason McDonalds sodas taste so good is because they are very, very particular about the syrup to water ratio. We had to measure and calibrate it each day and sign off on it. Most other places don’t do that. The dispenser machines get out of calibration after a while. Also, most places will dial back in the syrup to make it last longer and save costs. But that makes it taste bad.
Where I worked at McDonalds, we also had a rule about temperature. The rule was that soda dispensed from the fountain must be at around 38 degrees Fahrenheit. The expectation was that you didn’t need much ice to cool it and it wouldn’t melt the ice quickly either. Everything at McDonalds is calculated and very well documented.
