That moment of the entire desert lifting and exploding behind them as the sandworm appears was one of the most thrilling things I’ve ever experienced in IMAX.

"I recognize your footsteps, old man."

Crazy how he says that same line to Gurney in part 2. His prescience vision becomes true.

I'm so glad I saw this in theatre. One of the best movie experiences ever.

"I recognize your footsteps, old man."
This isn't just a reference to Paul calling Gurney "old man."
Remember that Shai Hulud is the "Old Man of the Desert." Paul's nascent prescience and spice enhanced intuition is allowing him to recognize the footsteps of Shai Hulud. Great line!

0:04 The way Gurney appears and how the music changes instantly is the best depiction of being woken up suddenly that I've ever seen. Beyond adaption, this movie makes this moments we take for granted feel so real.

Bless the Maker and his water
Bless the coming and going of him
May his passage cleanse the world
And keep the world for his people

When I saw this scene at home I cried a little tear for not watching it in a theatre. I am sure if the director had a chance to shake the hole cinema he would. Epic.

Just read this part in the book, I could hear the actors voices in the lines and the music throughout the scene. This movie was exceptional in capturing the book!

Liet-Keynes Prayer to me just emphasizes how significant the Sandworm is to the Fremen.

Seeing this in the theater made my jaw drop. The visuals, the music, the sense of awe and urgency...when the desert landscape literally balloons behind Paul and Gurney....holy shit.

That shot of them on the back of the ‘Thopter at 1:01 was well designed and well executed with the combo of practical effects (sand, wind, light in foreground), SFX in the background, and the exceptional score.

this scene in a giant IMAX theater was breathtaking
I really wish the aspect ratio expanded on the blu-ray to really give you a sense of scale

Kinda crazy how one movie seems to stand above literally everything else visually. Like the effects in this movie are just on another level.

That worm must have one hell of a digestive system.

My God this was brilliant.

Lynch did his very best to capture the epic feel of this scene, but was clearly let down by the technology of the time which simply wasn't up to the task in a lot of ways (although the final shot of the Worm eating the Harvester was a marvel of special effects for the time).

But this final shot of Paul and Gurney standing on the ramp of their Orni, the two of them looking down in silent awe at this giant mouth hinted at through the sand swirling simply gulps down this massive spice harvester. With Zimmers brilliant soundtrack, the voiceover of Kynes...

I feel so incredibly lucky to have seen this in Imax, feeling almost as out of it as a Paul as I just took in the moment ...

Bravo indeed.
