It's exactly like you said. One year after she broke up, she started watching all my stories. It's been almost 2 years now and she is in a new relationship but this time long distance. She is still watching but never reached out. Yet I suspect she is trying to bait me with her stories because hers are repetitive and non-sensical. But I don't fall for it. Every scenario, every reason you mentioned, is really valid. They can be one or the other, or a combination of some, or all.
One thing stuck out for me. If they were the one that left you, or ghosted and trying to hoover you back in, do not respond to anything without meaning. Ignore simple messages. If they have something real to say, they eventually will, and this will be when they feel they're about to lose you for good. If you are even thinking about responding, that would be the time to do it-when they say something meaningful. But after that, they still have to prove that they want you back.

i think some exes watch stories and reach out at times because they are narcs 😢 especially when they said hurtful things like they don’t care about you and than act like it was never said, i just ignore them to have a peace of my mind

I initiated no contact with her because I wasn’t receiving respect in the relationship, I was being taken for granted, and not being appreciated. She was using me for emotional support and not giving me love and support. This all happened because I told her after a two months of dating that I wanted to be sure we were not in the friend zone and that I cared for her more than a friend. She told me she felt the same way and we made out. However, the next two days she became very distant, and then I caught her with another guy. I interpreted her actions as of her being scared of the relationship becoming serious. Since then I sporadically saw her, and she was very inconsistent in seeing me. Since I initiated no contact 6 weeks ago, she watches every story I post as soon as I post it. Not sure if I should use option 1 or option two.

Well explained video - she almost had me liking her stories and posts back to do the reciprocity tests but I never did. I stayed strong and focused and it seemed to escalate her behavior. Based of experience I too highly advise you do nothing men and stay focused until a level of communication comes that matches your value, ie a phone call or a text that’s a little more than breadcrumbs. She’s serious and her intentions are clear.

it's quite sad how I woman I deeply loved and who I thought loved me left the relationship suddenly without warning or good reason then blocks me then watches my stories..I am almost tempted to block her as either she is in my life because she wants to be or not. I think if this continues into the future I will make my insta private or block her

I've stopped watching her stories but she seems to still watch mine, it's been 2 and a half months since she broke up with me, and I started my no contact mid break up only because I've tried to fix things with her during the beginning of the break up and before her stories would be public but now she'll Change the settings like once a week or every other week as if she wants me to look but I refuse to open them and ego stroke her. Maybe she's waiting to see if I move on so that she can say she was right all along that I was entertaining someone else which I wasn't, and this way maybe she would feel good and not guilty about doing what she wants without guilt.. so I'm no longer posting stories on my social media

Go no contact, don’t be fooled from the breadcrumbs, focus on your purpose and leveling up. The dating market is trash and once you on point more will come and if she comes which she will. Play the game.

Dude, thank you so much for this. My ex ghosted and blocked me last year without ever saying why, but for several months now there has been a blank account watching just about EVERY story I've posted who I suspect 75% is my ex, especially when I go on a trip they watch every one of those stories within the first half hour that I post it. I think they/she is also watching because they want to see if I've moved on with someone else. She still has me blocked on her regular account, but I suspect this account is her because she's too ashamed to unblock me and doesn't want me to see that. This video really helps, man.
