I have the M1 Pro 16-inch, and honestly, there’s no reason to upgrade unless they come out with a new design and features. What I’d really love is a lighter 16-inch model that’s easier to carry with one hand, and adding Face ID would be a great addition.

This sounds like a good update but as Brian says, apple silicone is already so good that unless you have specefic requirements the "older" M series machines work great.

I hope they don't make the high end expensive. Max fully decked out can cost up to 10K. The log price increments is just ridiculous if you want more RAM + Storage.

No need to upgrade if someone has the M2 Pro or M3 Pro MacBook Pro 14-inch laptop. Both are excellent devices for video editors or programmers (minus C#).

The time to upgrade from the M1 Air or regular M1 Pro looks good now. Maybe hold off until OLED screens in 2025 laptop update. Still no need to upgrade for the M1 Max for extreme video editors.

Year after year, I'm tempted to upgrade my M1 MBA but it's still damn good. I'll only upgrade if the base RAM begins at 16GB for all M4s going forward.

Especially in the Tech world where changes are so incremental year on year I really wish there was a 2-year product cycle, it's not like people are going to stop buying devices it just means that there will BA seemingly significant upgrade.

You know where the problem is? Unless user reallly needs some extra power, there is seriously no need for na upgrade. Im still using M1 mini + M1 air for mobile stuff and to be honest - those 2 machines are still handing with same great speed and so like in a day when I got them. Sure, rendering can be faster, but no pro-user renders 3d stuff, or simulate blender particles on such computers (they are way too slow for that kind of tasks anyway)
Maybe I will upgrade mini do m4 in year or two, but as you said - M series are just too good! In mac-based intel era, for me there was a reason to upgrade lets say every 2-3 years. But no? Hell no
