In the next update, can ALL modifiers be capable of ONLY effecting SELECTED vertex groups? Would love to be able to only subdivide the part of a mesh I plan to move or have on camera. (The Subdivision Surface Modifier and a couple other modifiers don't allow use of vertex groups.) This is in the air for any programmers, developers, or coders who are capable of fixing this issue. If I wanted to crack the upper rim of a bowl I would rather not subdivide the entire bowl for a higher detail crack, no. I'd rather only subdivide the upper rim. Where its meant to crack. Or, another example is, if I'm doing an up-close shot of only a character's finger which is connected to a large full body rig, and I want some detailed movements, it would be great if I could move all the subdivision to the finger because it's the focus of the scene instead of subdividing the entire mesh. Regardless, the main issue is some modifiers don't allow use of vertex groups

Also can we look into "animated vertex groups"? Or at least keyframing vertex groups so you could go from one face, edge, or vertex to another? Sounds very useful

I super appreciate the small tweaks to the UI. One of the reasons I enjoy working in Blender is it’s clean interface and the way it doesn’t get in the way of the work. We can have all the needed info without a bunch of pop ups and it still looks great. Thanks to the devs!

Please add the ability to exclude objects from light or vice versa - exclude light from objects!
Example: A group of lamps and I want to exclude one of them from the influence on the object, so that it simply does not shine on it, I create a group inside the light source and throw this object there, op and everything is ready. The same thing is needed for HDRI cards! This thing is everywhere except my favorite blender, and it is sorely missed by many users.

Would be great to have back some 2.79 viewport drawing overlays for linked objects (blue-ish outline and origin dot). There is no way to know at a glance which local objects are the linked ones between my scenes... in 2.79 it was there beautifully. I've reported that couple year ago but feel like nobody is pushing it further. ;(

About outliner search: type, press enter
Live search isn`t hanfy thing for complex projects, it only cause too much blinking.

would be great if the open file dialog window's layout (volumes, system, bookmarks, recent) would be saved. Meaning I drag Bookmarks and Recent to the top. Open a file or whatever that closes the dialog box. Then I open the file dialog window again and the layout is back to standard ;) and ye, replace the macOS dev job opening with a proper particle dev =)

Ellipsis character: … (on a German Linux keyboard: AltGr+.) I would have assumed that this is what is used in that case. It is what I use when truncating text.
