No one should be driving 600 miles without stopping. End of. Great vid JP.

4.8 miles per kiloWatt hour is impressive for a spacious crossover. ๐Ÿ‘ That efficiency combined with a 64kWh battery is sufficient for a trip in UK driving conditions. โ˜ฎ๏ธ

Great video. I miss my e-Niro! The efficiency is just unbelievable.

Totally agree with your thoughts on the range 300 miles range is enough in any Ev. Doing that journey I would of stopped as you did. We have the e Niro with the 64 kw battery and find it really efficient.

Brighton to Manchester is about 280 miles. That's a slog of a drive. To do it on one charge is very impressive, especially given how relaxing EVs are to drive.

Thanks for another great video Jonathan. Really enjoy seeing how you are getting on with the e-Niro living in the Orkneys. We live in South West France and have had ours since March 2019, now on 70, 000 km. This summer we have seen fully charged ranges of 540 km (334 miles) but then again it is warmer here and the terrain mostly flat or gently rolling. I agree with you that an EV with this range and efficiency makes no difference from an ICE car on long journeys...I run out of โ€˜puffโ€™ long before the car does.๐Ÿ˜Š...we tend to drive for 2.5 hours max (200 - 250 km) before taking a break. Last winter we did a 2, 200 km round trip to Frankfurt (we have no control of where our kids live and work and when grandkids get born!)...normally we would have used the TGV but with Covid the train services werenโ€™t reliable. The effective range dropped to about 350 km on the autoroutes/autobahns. We did an overnight stop on the way and charged for free at a hotel in Metz...coming home we stupidly tacked the entire 1, 100 km (682 miles) in one go....urghh...We kept swapping over driving and stopped 5 times to charge...it took 15 hours door to door with 12 hours driving time...never again! We used mostly Ionity chargers and like you were seeing 53-54 kW initially before it ramped up to 75 kW for a short time, tailing off to 20-30 kW after 80%...The newer Hyundia/Kia offerings or something with 125 kW like the VW products would have taken 60 to 90 minutes off the journey but this is something unlikely to be repeated.

I recently chose to do a 750 mile trip in our 28kWh Ioniq over our tesla Model S 75, to see how doable it was. Absolutely not a problem. Gridserve have done a fantastic job at service stations with Wetherby being the most impressive. 20 minute stop every 100 miles is very comfortable. Got 5.4 miles/kWh compared to 3.3 I would get from the Tesla, so will be considering a swap.

You stopped in my home village, Corbridge! (Northumberland). We now have the grand total of 2 chargers in the village now, but what they are, I have no idea (yet).

How sensible to plan an overnight break. I've driven some long days, e.g from Saffron Walden to Glasgow, but more as a challenge than anything else: it really is not a very bright idea.

Great video Jonathan, a quick question, I noticed the route on your satnav appears to be same colour as the car arrow. On my 21my eniro 3 the route is always green which can be confusing as all the roads are green as well. Can it be changed to red or blue. Thanks Chris

Just have a think, what would it be like if 50 dc charging cars connected up at 150 dc chargers

What brand/make of tires and tire pressure? Mine are still on the Michelin it originally came with from Kia. 4.8 miles per kWh is fantastic. Maybe it's 60mph and slower to get that efficiency? All lower elevation or flat?

Hi mate got a couple of questions if you can help, when I go over speed bumps there's a graunching noise from the suspension area have you experienced this? Also do you know if the 7kW zappi inners can be upgraded to 11kW charging and does the cable need changing from the fuse box to the charger as our bungalow has a 3 phase power supply (still had the leaf at the time so didn't bother with the 11kW version). Cheers and I'll look out for you on you're travels

Struggling to understand why youโ€™re so tired after 7 hours of driving, I regularly do 640 miles, Brittany to South Wales via Eurotunnel. Take a quick break every 220 miles or three hours driving and I donโ€™t need to stop where there are chargers.

This a problem, 22 kw charger being blocked by an 11kw ac charging car for 3 hours more than should be, may as well have 11 kw charge posts . 22 Kw ac onboard chargers should be standard

Is it OK to leave the car overnight (say 18 hours max) with 100% charge on the batteries? I am still a novice at this and reluctant to leave my Fiat 500e with more than about 80% of its available 37.3 KW/h battery, which actually has a total capacity of 42 KW/h.
