Hello friends,
In the midst of planning my lessons today, I snapped my low E string! In the spirit of turning lemons into lemonade, I took this as an opportunity to show you all how to change the strings on a Gibson Les Paul style guitar. I'll take you through the steps of removing your old strings, cleaning and polishing your guitars body and fretboard and how to restring your instrument. Let's get started!

Are those tuningpegs on your lp locking tuners?? If so you dont actually need to wind the strings, just put it trough the tuner and lock it down then tune up the string.

I'm switching from a .10 gauge to a .13 gauge. I know what to adjust, but do I have to adjust the truss rod a whole lot?

I tried 2 sets of strings on my guitar and when I got close to being tuned they snapped right at the nut

I am surprised you are working on your lap rather than a bench or table. I use compressed air to clean around my pickups after I use painters tape to cover the pick ups.

I wish you would've gone over the stretching and tuning method in depth for those who don't know about it but other than that great video

Why do you unwind & remove all the strings at the same time. Most ppl remove and replace one string at a time. Something to do with the avoidance of relieving too much tension on the neck at once which may cause it to warp. Or, is that just an urban myth?
