Thank you so much. Watching other videos, I was struggling to get the string to actually wrap around the tuning peg (as many videos quickly gloss over that step), but your explanation of basically tying a knot and then applying tension actually works!

THANK YOU!!! I want to learn at least 6 instrument by the time i am 20, and the acoustic guitar is my 5th one, but my guitar was in a really bad shape as it was my mother's and my dad gifted it to her before i was born. it was in a bad shape. so i got new strings and your video helped me put them on. one of the bridge pins is missing so i will install the last string after i get the bridge pins. but thank you much as this helped the guitar get back in shape

You can also go 1 turn above and other turns under the string when you wind it, that's how I do it.

You should actually make TWO bends of the string, in opposite directions, on either side of the peg hole and wrap the loose end under and over the string so as you tighten, it "locks" it and there won't be slippage. In addition, you won't have to make more than 2-3 wraps around the peg. You'll have to watch other vids to see and understand what I'm talking about. Also, it makes a difference if the string wraps above or below the string where it comes through the peg hole. Again, watch some other vids. If the strings have been on there for any length of time or played for a long period, you're going to want to change them all out. New and old strings on a guitar at the same time are going to both play and sound different.

I´ve got a question, when i buy a new guitar and I want to change the strings to thicker ones as soon as i get the guitar, can I still use the ones that I removed?
