You forgot to mention the part where you stab your finger on one of the freshly cut string ends. Blood offering to the guitar gods.

Reverb, this is the most clear, concise, yet thorough demo of the biggest chore in music. Thank you so much. You guys are changing the game.

That 'knot' method to hold the string in place while you wind is amazing! I've never thought of that before, and it'd really save on some slippage.

One of the clearest explanations on any Youtube video without all the BS rambling. The only weak talking point that is still somewhat unclear is how your other hand is hold slack or something like that. Still unclear and was somewhat overlooked - another 5 seconds would have solved that issue. Good stuff overall.

Well thanks a lot, I pulled on the strings as instructed and snapped the B

Been a long time since I played. Grabbed a set of D'Addario nines for my Telecaster. Popped the A & B strings. I even tensioned slowly.

I am actually even wondering if I was tuning to the correct octave... eek.

Viewers might want to check out other tutorials and compare methods. The knot approach shown here is not recommended elsewhere.

This makes my method look like crap (which I'll admit it is, but it was what I was taught and all I knew). Definitely going to try it this way

How can I prevent from snapping? When I wind the strings and then trying to tune them, they snap :(

This method is great. i actually have locking tuners for all my guitars bar my Gibson Explorer, so I dread changing strings. this was short concise and easy, `these 25-minute guitar string-changing videos bore me!!

so it it okay to remove all strings at once? I hear a lot of back and forth about it. and for those who remove 1 string at a time, how do you clean & condition your fretboard?

Do you belive that I could change the strings to my Ibanez, even though I've never changed them myself. And no need for other adjustments than the "streching"?

Is there any way to incorporate the knot in a vintage style kluson tuner that loads from the top?

I'm using 12 gauge and I had so much string wound around the machine head nut. I even applied the 2 nut rule

aren't you supposed to do one string at a time to maintain consistent tension in the neck?
