Please leave all calories in vs calories out argument here. I'm more than happy to respond to people wanting a discussion about it. I know I might have been a bit harsh and negative in the past about approaching the topic, for which I apologize, but I also feel it's only right for me to respond to everyone else fairly and respectfully moving forward.

The more I learn about this topic, the more confused I get.

I've been on the keto diet for 4 months and want to say a couple of things that might not be obvious to newcomers. 1. Going keto means not spiking insulin, which means not storing fat and also releasing stored fat, a double whammy for weight loss. 2. The keto flu (first 2-3 weeks) is uncomfortable. 3. After 3 weeks you just won't be hungry anymore. It's not because fat and protein are 'satiating' but because insulin is not compelling you to eat. 4. You will be able to do intermittent fasting (8pm till 1pm next day) very easily. 5. You will lose weight overnight, every night (weight loss occurs by breathing out co2 and h2o) 6. You may lack some energy until you are 'fat-adapted' (3 months at least). 7. You should take a multi vitamin. 8. You will be hot at night. 9. You will feel weird sometimes early on, you will feel brilliant eventually. 10. You can drink gin and tonic in moderation. 11. If you go back to eating carbs and sugar you will be hungry all the time, like before, and will easily put on pounds.

I did a strict keto diet for 4 months and lost 40 pounds. I had 10 grams of carbs a day. I Lived off of pork chops, steak, bacon, butter, cheese, heavy cream and coconut oil. Sounds horrible right? lol Best diet ever, no lie

I've been on a keto diet now for ten weeks and have lost 17 kilos - that's around 38 pounds. More important, my BMI has gone from 41 to 35 - I'm sill "obese" but at least its moving in the right direction. I feel GREAT!! Why?? Put 17 bags of sugar into a shopping basket and feel how heavy it is. That's why I feel so good - not carrying that much weight around all the time.
The Keto diet isn't for everyone. It works for me so I shall see how far I get on it.

I live in ketosis, and have been for the last 3 months. I also weight train for the purpose of developing muscle. IMO, if youre someone like me, who is sensitive to carbs, meaning carbs make you fat easily, then you should really consider a ketogenic diet. I absolutely love it.

It works great. I just started the keto journey but I am cured from binge eating as a result of this diet completely taking my cravings and urges away. After trying so many diets over the past 10 years finally keto rescued me.

Another great thing about this diet, is it severely blunts your appetite after about a week if you are following it correctly.

Make sure you tell everyone that you're in "KETO" or else it doesn't work.

This is a great life style honestly. I've struggled with finding an eating plan that I could stick to without much calorie counting/weighing, etc. I've been obese all my life and I have lost over 100 lbs the "old fashion" way. However, this time around, the weight loss is much easier. I still workout sometimes, but I'm not a gym rat counting calories and restricting calories severely to drop weight. Actually, becoming "healthy" became unhealthy due to obsession. Anyway, the toughest part of keto is the keto flu... it was awful because I jumped right into keto with no preparation (although I researched and was mentally prepared before starting). So here is my top reasons to do keto:

- Amazing/better sleep
- Delicious food
- No calorie counting (but I track my macros... meaning, I make sure I stay under 20-30g carbs and I eat up to 200 grams of fat... YES 200... its quite hard to eat that much fat at times... but I don't consume too many calories because I'm not hungry
- Weight loss... over 20 lbs in less than 2 months with minimum exercise (2 or 3 times at the gym)
- Blood pressure is lowering
- Eating new foods and new recipes

As part of this lifestyle, I do check my blood glucose and ketone levels because my doctor stated I was prediabetic... However, all my numbers have NORMALIZED. My goal now is to keep my blood glucose below 80 and no more than 85-83 after meals. That has been tough but I get great results as far as blood glucose levels AND weight loss when I get deep sleep. So overall, this plan works for me and I think it would work for anyone who:

- Doesn't want to count calories all their lives
- Wants to naturally learn how to listen to their bodies (I am much more in tune to when something is wrong or right)
- Wants a possible anti-cancer, hypertension, diabetes, pcos, fibroid, and Alzheimer (and seizure for some) diet
- Wants to have energy and mental focus (when adapted)
- Wants to regulate/stabilize hormones
- Are lazy when it comes to meal planning (I have lazy moments and its so easy to eat this way

Last thing, I can say I loved rice, pasta, and bread before this lifestyle but after 2 months, I don't really miss those foods anymore. PLUS, there are alternatives, like coconut and almond flour which allows you to eat "carb" like foods and they are good.

Anyway, great video to educate people while begin honest about some of the benefits and drawbacks.

Keto diet has helped me so much! I’ve lost 30 pounds in 3 weeks! I feel less hungry, my six pack has started to show and now I can do a high intensity workout for 3 hours! Also my skin has gotten better, my hair shinier, my eyesight has improved, and I’m 6% body fat! Keto rules!

I went from 305lbs to 190lbs in about 6 months on this diet. Seriously! When it was completely kicked in, I was losing 1 pound per day! 7 pounds per week! I was also doing a lot of 🏃 running on the treadmill. Gained a lot of it back when I started eating carbs again... I'm starting the diet up the day after I post this message. (SUNDAY 8-6-17). I will post results either weekly or monthly, right here.)
PLEASE, SOMEBODY WISH ME GOOD LUCK! I NEED IT! Usually when I try to start the diet, I can only stay on it for a few days, and I just can't go without the carbs! SO PLEASE SOMEONE WISH ME GOOD LUCK, TO DO IT ALL THE WAY THIS TIME! Thanks!

I'm in day 6 and boy do I feel fucking amazing.
life changing diet life style
Update: keto is mostly a short term fix. I lost weight because I cut carbs
Duh. Go vegan. I'm finally shredded and lean and have six pack abs for the first time in my life. Keto clogs arteries. Go plant based!

I switched to a Keto diet July 1st and I have since then lost 40lbs. Carbs controlled my life back then. Lol, I can't imagine going back to lots of carbs.

Have been on Keto since May 20th - Currently am over 2 stone down, in about a month and a half! Still got a couple stone to go but going strong.

Keto/atkins is very good if you have a lot to loose. The first couple of weeks are a major motivator as you'll likely loose towards a stone (much of which was water retention). I am 19, and have always been overweight, if not obese..However keto has worked for me, and has also given me some mental discipline which I believe will aid me in transitioning once I get to my goal weight.
