part of why it is hard, its because they make you do unnecessary assignments that don't matter and they get strict about those damn care plans

ty Ashley for keeping the topic light and positive. .I'm 46, a mom, entrepreneur and going to get my RN, second bachelor's this year! so every time I'd share this dream with others I would hear the negative. ..it's so hard...bah..embolism with twins was hard..bring it on!!

I'm excited and terrified! I just got my acceptance letter into a BSN program here in Houston starting at the end of the month. 😁😩

If I was to boil down nursing school's difficulty to a single entity then it would be "chaos". Nursing school, the culture of nursing school, is a jumbled mess. Classes are taught by multiple people, assignments pass through many hands, rubrics are unclear, expectations fuzzy, schedules often changing on the spur of the moment, poor planning, unprepared faculty, and so forth. There is nothing about nursing school that should be as hard as it is and, indeed, it really isn't that hard when I really think about it. But it is a goofy mess of contradictions, unpleasant surprises, and horrible planning. It's a shame because nursing is such a wonderful profession but nursing school is in need of major reform. It's a joke.

I was blessed with a nursing program who provided good PowerPoint notes to study off from. All I had to do was attend lectures, take notes next to that PowerPoint. And just study and memorize it everyday so that way I don't get overwhelmed. Like you said, procrastinating is never good. The books were just reference to supplement that awesome PowerPoint notes. But that's not always the case with other nursing programs. thanks for sharing

Daniel...it is not letting me reply to your comment, so I hope this response finds you. I think that switching your major to Health Sciences really all depends on your personal goals/situation in life. If you know you won't be able to get into nursing school, then it may be a good idea to switch majors so you can get your degree. There are several post-bacc programs to get your RN after you graduate with a separate degree. I think that in order to get into nursing school, you need to keep high grades (no matter what major you are doing). You will still have to do some pre-reqs, most likely, for nursing school before getting in if you switch your major. I hope this helps!

I think it's worth it in excited to start this process my plan is to get as much experience as I can be don't care how hard it is as long as I have the strength to get it done I want this but its a small goal because my bigger challenge is masters degree as a physician assistant so if nursing school is a challenge I will fail I won't make it in med school and I really want this this video was scary and helpful at the same time but I'm ready for this journey

The only part I find difficult is the subjective clinical experience. Being at the top of the class means nothing when it comes to clinicals. I always worry about the clinicals because if I make the wrong impression on someone I can fail regardless of my above average grades. I've been lucky, so far, and have been able to blend in to the clinical sites but others in my class have not.

For me, the hardest part was adapting my study habits to the NCLEX-style. I entered the program with a 4.0 and I still remember the anger I felt when I received a 89% on my first nursing exam! I quickly learned that it wasn't enough to know the information,  we also had to apply the content to real-life situations and develop test taking skills.

I'm not in Nursing school but I am in a Physical Therapist Assistant program, & I think all of these types of careers are so hard because there is SO much information to learn in such a short amount of time.

Gonna be a second year nursing student this coming fall!! I'm excited, but nervous at the same time. My first year of nursing school was all theory and a couple of labs/seminar. Second year is when i will 'truly' experience nursing school since i'll be having clinicals! My first day back to school is already a clinical day and i don't feel ready!! I'm doing long term care, and i'm terrified i'll mess things up. I don't remember much from the labs in my first year 😱 and since im on a two month vacation, i don't have my nursing textbooks to study from, and my online notes have been taken down! 😢😢

the amount of information you have to learn, and like you said it's different in that some of the stuff is not common sense!

The hardest part of nursing school for me is the vast amount of information to integrate...quickly.  Granted, I am in accelerated 12 month non-stop program, but still. Regardless of program, 2 year, 4 year, adn, bsn, etc.., it's all hard, and never ending it seems. So I guess..TIME management is hardest part for me. Just getting the will to write research papers weekly, while juggling 24 hours clinical time, class time and then try to squeeze in as much Nclex review, patho as you can.  I want an uninterrupted  month just to read and process! oy.
