Cheap Old Guitar + New DiMarzio Pickups

We took a battered old Squier Tele and put new DiMarzio pickups in it to see the difference...I was blown away!
We have a DiMarzio Twang King in the Neck and a Chopper T in the bridge.
Signal chain was Guitar, Wampler Tumnus and Laney L5.

Gotta admit that old Squier sounds damn good. I'm sure the DiMarzio's are a massive upgrade to the tone, but I honestly can't help but think 90% of the awesomeness is Lee's playing. Guy could make a shovel stuck in mud sound like a Master Built. Awesome demo and as always top notch playing man.

I love this approach to modding guitars. Get an old guitar, even a cheap one that's good enough, pop in some DiMarzios to perk it up. Make it sound like a million bucks. But Lee Wrathe can make any guitar sound like a million bucks. He's one hell of a great guitarist.

I like how ALL Dimarzio pickups have such a sweet tonal range. Shimmering cleans to blistering distortion. Fender pickups, seymour duncan none of them even come close. Dimarzio is the only thing I will play!

I bought this identical Squier Affinity in Mint Condition for $110 and dropped in a set of Seymour Duncan Vintage pickups. I won't be selling this guitar anytime soon, play great and I do like the slimmer neck

Killer playing man. I love this combo. The Kotzen Tele is king and when I saw the finger style picking I though oh hell yea, that’s what I’m talking about

Great idea! I'm probably going to do this with my Squire Tele (the whole solderless setup). That's because the Squire Tele maple neck is one of the best I've ever played.
