i actually had really good grades my freshman year- i had all A’s, a 4.0, and was 2nd of my class. it’s my sophomore year that i’m currently struggling with my grades. i’m suffering from burn out from the constant pressure to keep my grades up and i’m slipping- i know i’m going to regret this in the future but i don’t know how i can save myself 😭😭

its crazy how i got like the diet version of all of this partially because of COVID. sent emails for rec letters because school was remote, couldnt take the SAT, did virtual tours/open houses of campuses where all i had to do was join a zoom and i got a fee waiver, i got into my top 2 schools with short school-specific prompt essays after applying super early (didnt use common app) and basically crossed out the rest of my college list because i knew i wasnt really considering any of the other ones after

I used to mentor high school students on college apps and financial aid through an organization as a volunteer. I recently helped my brother with all his college prep as well. The one advice I want to give is: don’t put anything off. College apps and FAFSA are definitely one of those things you don’t want to do last minute. Try to finish everything as early as you can. Ask your teachers for recommendations EARLY. Give them at least 3 weeks to prepare letters of recommendation. You got this, class of 2024 🎉

Honestly only worried about the rec letters and the essays. Grades aren’t too bad and extracurriculars are kinda mid but I’m going to Texas A&M engineering for my undergrad I should be good.
