Imagine if security tased him mid backflip 😂

Don’t run on the field and you’ll be just fine

So that's two people who have done a backflip on a major league baseball field: Ozzie Smith and this dude.

I seriously doubt anybody is asking this question in good faith, it's obviously either faking outrage for clicks or faking outrage to bait others into being oppositely enraged.

I remember getting autographs after the Nationals won the World Series.
Stephen Strasberg had two VERY LARGE security guards next to him at a table all by himself…

Owners wanted him safe I guess..

If people go on the field unchecked it will get dangerous quick

Every game, they announce that running onto the field is strictly prohibited, and that individuals doing it are subject to arrest. This guy did it, likely ignored several lawful orders to stop, and when he was running, was brought down without anyone else potentially getting hurt.

It's not like if he successfully outran the officer, he would have been out of the woods.

The second one cracks me up. Gets tased the exact moment as he goes for the head first slide. 😆

There’s a reason they don’t want people running on the field, their are nutcases out there and who knows whether or not they want to hurt the player’s. If you don’t stop the people that do come on the field or punish them for breaking this rule then you are inviting those nutcases out there to do whatever they want.

It should be known that legally, LEOs can use a taser when a suspect is posing a threat, meaning if they are moving towards an officer, or if they're armed, and not necessarily to force compliance. I'm not saying this situation is justified or not, but I think you might have a hard time arguing excessive force, even when he was running away just because of the nature of the situation... this isn't really a normal interaction with normal individuals. Anyhow, if you're being absolutely non-violent, and a LEO uses a taser to force some sort of compliance, like get out of the car or I'm tasing you, or my favorite was a female cop tasing a handcuffed man in his testes... that one was nuts! Excessive force has requisites in order to be heard, and with tasers it's pretty clearly drawn out when its use is deemed justified or necessary.

I say yes just so you don’t get any of those crowd rushes from last century

It happened Cleveland Guardians vs Cincinnati Reds

I mean, was he allowed to be in the field? No, oh, was security allowed to carry a damn taser? Yes, well there, you have your answer.

Do people actually think this isn’t justified? You are told to not run in the field and that you will be arrested if you do so

The Monica Seles incident validates taser deployment.

There has to be consequences for inappropriate behavior or people will just do what they want.

Are you really serious asking a question like that? Are we gonna wait for something to happen then say, oh man someone should’ve done something???

Gotta look out for player safety, tasers are just fine. I actually went to an mlb game and didn’t get tasered because I didn’t run on the field. Simple as that.

Yes this is an acceptable consequence for his actions.
