How to Use Wago Connectors - 221 Series Lever Nuts

preview_player
Показать описание
Using Wago wire connectors for wires that are too short for wire nuts or for temporary splices are two advantages over wire nuts or push in connectors. Wago wire nuts are good for DIY electricians because it's hard to make a poor connection with them.

Initially, I thought Wago wire connectors might be best used on low amp connections. I saw some tests where over 100 amps were put through the connector and they held up. They are rated for 20 amps.

I like to use these connectors on wires that are cut short, making it difficult to use a wire nut. I prefer them over push in connectors because the lever can be opened, the wire removed and then re inserted without having to cut an already short wire.

Great vid thanks. WAGO connectors in bulk [50-100 pcs] even if you don't need that many, its down to 20c a piece. I've used it to replace electrical connections in home appliances and auto accessory work, why struggle with screw on, crimp, soldering, or various socket terminal blocks, and even dissimilar wire gauge connections, WAGO can do it all, so having many come in handy. Its UL approved, and made by a large reputable German company in Germany, not outsourced to China, so you know you get very controlled quality, and it shows; its so simple and made of plastic, yet can do so much.

I have used wire connectors for many years, including wagos, i have learned new ways it is beneficial by watching this video. This one of several of your videos I watched over time, as in the past your reviews and instructions are the best I have seen.

I have used Wagos for a couple of years now and I love them. Faster and a more secure connection. They secure stranded and solid wires together where wire nuts have issues.

Thank you so much. I tried convincing my wife that we should use these while we are in the process of tracing and re-wiring our home. We don't have the time or budget to do it all in one go of it but our 1939 home has been handyman'd to hell and back so these will make me sleep better while were working. Some of the things we find are downright scary.

A very clever invention that was revealed to me a few years ago. No more bits of dodgy tape wrapped around wires that usually fall off. Just consider, we've built nuclear bombs, split the atom, etc. However at long last we have a real technological marvel. Marvellous.😃❤👍
PS liked and subscribed.👍

I don't really have a lot of confidence in these. I'm amazed by the amount of movement when they're locked in. I think I might just stick with old fashioned wire nuts unless I really really hurting for the box space

Many thanks for your videos. The Wago's are new to me.

My house I recently purchased is also from 1952. (and a few additions after that). I am going to use the Wago's as all the outlet boxes are smaller and the wire lead length is very short.

I had an electrician install a new breaker panel....the original had four fuses for the entire house. And was placed inside a kitchen cupboard! (also a garage and an air conditioner came out this as well!) The fuse panel copyright instructions were from 1940.

dude thanks! I looked through all sorts of reviews and Q&A on home depot and amazon but could not find mention if the wires get damaged with WAGO (or other brands I was willing to try), thanks to your video I now the damage is minimal. I have wires in a tight spot that have very little slack and if i ever want to re-wire I don't want to have to cut them back.

Thanks, save me reading the instruction. I used it on DC 20 gauge wire. One of them pull out after, may be it didn't bit in well or my wire is too thin. I re-inert it and the connection work.

Quick and easy but I don’t use them.
That very small scratch is not much of a contact point and I could see heat generated from resistance corrosion.
I’ve always twisted wires first, use wire nuts and tape the wires together then around the nut.
Maybe overkill but that’s just me.

why does it skip 4 wire connector and go to 5? and lets say I have 4 wires, but use the 5 wire connector, will it work just fine?

The downside withers types of connectors is that the connection area is only a very small “scratch” in the wire caused by the clamp-down of the connector. This small connection area may go bad or get corroded leaving an open. Comments?

is it normal for the wires to be able to move after its locked? like twisting the connector i am able to do that

Why don’t they make a 4 connector? I need a 4 conductor! Why did you say wago is only for temporary?

Does the WAGO connector (3 bays) function the same as a GKEEMARS connector that is (1 in & 2 out)? I need to split the (+) Positive current 2-ways. One is going to a 24V (150 Watt) DC motor with 12AWG wire and the other one is going to an LED voltage meter that uses a 20AWG wire. I need to split the current like a "Y" splitter, one wire to the motor and the other wire to the LED volt meter. Currently I am using a Gkeemars (1 in to 2 out) but I would like to replace it since they do not work as well.

Thank you,
Ed
