I charge mine to 100% during Tornado season (now in Central Texas) for the weather maps and radar. Then I switch it back to 80% charge when the weather clears up . Good video.

You're right, avoiding charging above 80% is best for battery life, but, that other software that tries to manage "smart charging" isn't AI, just good old adaptive/smarter software.

Actually 7 out of 10 times the iPhone is will charge to 80% and the rest of the time it will charge to 100% to maintain accurate battery health and this in fact is mentioned by Apple on their website so even if you turn the 80% limit on it won’t charge to 80% all the time.

I came across this video because I saw one of Elon’s interview with Roganshow. He states that, “Lithium batteries tend to slow charge when reached 80% because those ions are now harder to find a place to store themselves”
The idea changed my mind completely. From now on I will only charge my devices up to 80%; whether it’s a phone or a car.

Note that on occasion it WILL charge to 100% to ensure battery 🔋 percentage accuracy. Aside from that, spot on. 👏🏽Every so many cycles which is smart as well. So there’s some “AI” in it as well.

I realize everyone has different results, but my wife bought an iPhone 8 when it was their latest rendition and she has been a fiend about only charging to 80%. I just checked her battery health and it’s at 97% so I’m not going to say sorry I’m going to say thank you!

When i set to 80% limit apple claims that it will occasionally charge up to 100% in that case should i chage till 100% or below 100 like 90 or, 95 ??

Always used optimised battery charging on 12 pro max, heavy used .bought since it came out and it’s still at 88% battery .
But saying that after doing some research as I just got iPhone 15 pro max saw the 80% and wondered why would they have that .
Anyway after my research you are 100% correct 80% max charge after first draining battery from full to nil 3 times to optimise your battery then after that it’s 80% max I will now be doing this on all my lithium products.
