I watched three other videos which were no help, but this one actually taught me something I didn’t know, so thank you for this!

If your iPhone only stops charging at 80% sometimes, it’s most likely due to a feature Apple implemented to extend the life of your iPhone battery. Apple introduced a battery optimization feature in iOS that slows down how your iPhone charging, and even holds it at 80% to prevent over stressing the battery.

I feel guilty plugging and unplugging my phone as well as restarting it multiple times. I somewhat don't like this optimizing thing😔

I’m a truck driver and I was driving from Pennsylvania to Michigan, I started driving at 5:07pm and decided to charge my iphone 12 pro an hour and half goes by and it charged up to 80% and I stopped driving 2:15am the next day and it still was at 80%.

Hi, I found this video was very useful. If charging stops at 80% is it ok to remove the charger from phone and continue to use the phone or should wait till it charges to 100% taking more hours. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

This 80% limitation happened to me. What I noticed was that my battery was getting hot. However, I was using my iPad charger to charge my iPhone. Well, I let it cool off, my phone battery that is. When I got to about 47%, I recharged it with the phone charger that came with the phone. It is now charging past the 80% mark. Note: I did not adjust the battery optimization mode.

In this case, using the actual charger that came with the phone is best. Posted on 12/26/21

Same day update: at 88%, my phone stopped charging again. I noticed that the battery had gotten hot. What I did was I let the battery cool off. Then I put the phone battery on low power mode. You can find that in the settings. So far, it has charged to 89%. Hopefully, it will get to 100% on low power mode charge. We will see. This is a lot. Sorry for that.

Thank you! I was worried because as far as I remember my Ipad used to charge above 80 percent but now it doesn't. I noticed that after restarting my ipad, I could see the battery percentage increased. Is this normal too? I bought my ipad just few months back and I am really concerned about it. Should I get it checked? And should I turn off the optimisation feature once to check wether it's charging upto full or not?
