You have some nice fig trees there! One note, you can take cuttings from any healthy branch. Take cuttings from about 12 inches from the end. Remove all leaves, but leave the bud on the very end. Good luck!

Using rooting compound can help with cutting as well. I usually just take branches off of just about anything anywhere on trees, dust it with some rooting compound, throw it in a pot and it’s normally good to go. Not all the time it works, but it does most of the time.

Love my figs! Have you ever tried air layering with pods? You basically pick a branch you know you’ll be pruning anyway-put moist peat moss in the pod, attach it at a good place where there are nodes, and wait two months. You can see the roots if you get clear pods. When you have a good root ball, cut just below and pot your new, practically mature fig tree. I make around 15 trees every year this way..can use it on many other trees as well..

You can actually use just about any part of any branch when propagating fig trees. They don't have to have established roots, but that does help guarantee it'll take. What varieties do you have?

It may also help to clip the two lower leaves of the transplanted fig tree.
