Can you root figs in water? Yes, but you have to take the right kind of cuttings.

This seems like such a great career. You have space to have fun and don't have to worry about getting dirty. In fact, your job is to tend the soil and the plants.

I just did an experiment before seeing your video. I put 0.1ml of Pythoff, and 25mls of multicrop plant starter in a 1.5 litre glass jar with 2 fig cuttings. Pumped air in through a small round airstone into the water. Started Sat evening today Monday afternoon I have root knobs. Less than 48 hrs I have roots.

Uhh idk where you got your info but i have rooted hundreds of lignified cuttings in water and have had 2 failures, probably cause they were too small. I have tried green non-lignified cuttings the same way and i'd say the success rate was less than 50%, the green cuttings have a much higher probability of rotting

Now that i have roots all in the bottom of my jar, should i plant it in soil and keep it in my home since it’s winter here?

I basically did this with suckers from a trunk where the tree was cut down by our stupid property owner(the tree must have been over 20 yrs. old). 😞
I started with 5 small cuttings in summer, rooted them in a jar of purified water over about a month. Two didn't make it__planted the remaning 3 in a small pot around Aug./Sept.__two more didn't survive.
One sole fig, Marcus Auralius(cuz he's a stoic trooper), survived! 🌱🌿🌳💖
From about a 6"-7" sucker that was no more than the diameter of charging cable about 6/7 yrs. ago, Marcus is now a thriving double trunk baby tree with another nice branch, greening up ever since.
The diameter of the trunks and branch are still about the size of a pencil, but growing in a pot inside my apartment is fine for the time being, as I do not have outside availability to grow plants.
He's growing just fine in a huge southern window, in Southern CA. 🌱🌿🌳💖🙌😺

All of my brown stems rooted better & about the same time (if not better) than my green stems! But then again I’m in Louisiana & the sun & humidity is probably as close as you’ll ever get to HEL! 😂😂😂🤷‍♀️

I’ve noticed sometimes it all about the variety too, some root in a three days, some weeks.

Good job. However, how can you keep the end (in the water) from rotten? I change water every other day but they are still rotted. Thanks 🙏

My mom got a brown, hard fig branch from a friend and tried rooting it and it didn't work. This explains why

Do u add sugar, cinnamon or crushed Tylenol to the water to help root faster?

So I’ve got an extremely leggy white honey fig, I’d like to propagate it as it’s become unruly and almost too tall to deal with.. The “original” branch has become woody and doesn’t produce leaves anymore but the offshoot from last spring is growing like crazy and I’d like to create multiple plants from it and hopefully train the offshoot to bush out more, do you think this is possible? I’m in zone 4b Canada so it’s outside all summer and comes in for winter here if that helps at all

It looks like I have mold growing in the water around the cuttings? Any suggestions?

Not sure if anyone will see this, just got an altreano green stem from a friend, but while it’s producing roots it’s suffering from bottom rot while suspended in water, not sure what to do and any help would be appreciated :)

my green cutting got soggy and mushy at the end that was in water

Air layer on hard wood is the best way

Growth has to be new growth. As long as stem is flexible and bends without breaking. It should be fine for rooting

Where do you get your fig cuttings from
