I hope for the chance, however small, that poor Dorothy was aware that she has been found and that there were people working fiercely to save her life -- it wouldn't mitigate the horror and tragedy of this sickening crime, but nobody deserves to leave this world in such despair. May she rest in peace, and I hope that her family can find some amount of closure knowing that her killer is in prison for life.

My dad's a retired cop and his first homicide case was pretty similar to this, minus the SA. An elderly woman was found dead in her home with some of her money and belongings missing. They found an acrylic nail at the crime scene. Not long after, a teenage girl around this kid's age was arrested for an unrelated offense and they immediately noticed she was missing a nail. Her nails were the exact same color as the missing one at the crime scene. It's terrifying what some children are capable of. I almost pity them. You have to have an incredibly traumatic upbringing to resort to that level of violence. But the pity ends once they've taken an innocent life. Explanations aren't excuses. I hope both these women's souls have found peace.
