I took a deep dive on this case years back. My conclusion is a family member killed him so when they "found" him the family had to go along with it even though it was obviously not him. It's a crazy case.

The only reason why his family would claim that the impostor is their son (and refuse the DNA test), although it is OBVIOUS that he is not, is that they had something to do with his death, I believe what the impostor said about how the family knew he was lying. What I don't understand is how the authorities allowed him to enter the country without other tests/verifications, when it is obvious that the physical features didn't match and he didn't look like a teenager.

My heart hurts 💔 for little Nicholas. He showed all the signs of being abused. No one saved him. He needed to be loved and protected . 😢

Does anyone think that Nicholas's parent's were/are involved in the childs disappearance???

An extended family member told me (online) that the family isn't looking for Nicholas. The only person who is still looking into the case is Charlie Parker, the private investigator. It has always disturbed me how the family has portrayed Nicholas as the cause of all the problems while continuing to defend Jason and downplaying the drug use and domestic violence. Beverly called the police on Jason twice after Nicholas went missing; in one instance, Jason told a police officer that his mother was shouting at him because "her other son ran away". Jason calling the police in the fall of 1994 claiming that Nicholas was trying to break into the garage was obviously a ruse to send the police in another direction, as they were investigating Nicholas's disappearance and discovered that he hadn't taken any money or possessions. Jason dying of a drug overdose shortly after he was questioned seems a bit too coincidental. Nicholas was mistreated and neglected in life and it appears that this has continued. I don't believe he's alive. I hope there will be answers one day.

How did anyone think he was 16? He looks 35.

The guy who pretended to be Nick Barclay said his parents, and family knew he wasn't Nick. And his account of being with them is really interesting, now it should be taken with a grain of salt cause he's a con man. But he has some solid reasons as to why they should've looked at the parents a bit closer.

There’s no way the family didn’t know that wasn’t their Nicholas. They are shady, they thought the weird imposter guy was a good way of getting them off the hook for whatever they did to Nick. Allegedly. 👀

Not even a resemblance. The mom is evil and knows what happened to the real Nicholas

Hair color usually changes as you age but eye color NEVER CHANGES. Plus, you don't develop an entirely different accent in 3 years. Someone in that family killed the boy and the family is protecting the murderer.

Could Jason have done it? Went to actually pick him up/once Nicholas got home got annoyed with his much younger brother, they had an argument that got physical, Jason hit/punched/pushed him harder than intended, Nicholas fell and suffered a fatal injury. Parents help Jason cover everything up and dispose of the body. Or it was the abusive parents

Mrs H 🇬🇧 ...My boy has ADHD ( Attention Deficiency Hyperactive Disorder ) Do I need support?? Course I do... But although the UK courts insisted I get support I get nothing... My boys birth mother drank during pregnancy causing him to have permanent brain damage.FASD...ARND.. I took him on at 4 days old... His biological parents contribute nothing... Both my hubby and I worked full time but I had to go to part time cos of his high level of energy & lack of sleep My heart aches for Nicholas ...He had a hidden disability which he should of been supported with.. Life is hard for children and adults with these complex conditions .. No one cared for him or saved him... He was vulnerable and needed protecting .. Me personally feel his parents had something to do with this child's disappearance... It is hard but to not love them enough to get help or to hand them over to CPS is sickening...😡💔

It's ridiculous that anybody believes he was the same kid. Lol.

This is literally the plot of the movie Orphan: First kill.

A little girl was murdered by her brother and the body was hidden by the boy and his mother then saying that she was kidnapped, a-la the Ramsay family.. When Esther sees the news story she claims to be the missing girl, and of course the mother has to bring her home and pretend she's her missing daughter even though she barely resembled the girl.

Allegedly.

Nicholas' case is heartbreaking and it haunts me. I believe Jason killed Nicholas, probably by beating him to death. It was a violent, dysfunctional household, with Beverly and Jason both addicted to drugs, and Jason had a violent temper. The police were called to the house for domestic violence issues more than once. Nicholas was a product of his environment, acting out because of it. After Nicholas' disappearance Jason supposedly acted strangely around the garden shed. I think a neighbour said this, I can't remember for sure who it was. His family didn't put much effort into searching for Nicholas either. And to top it all off, when a person who had the wrong colour eyes and a strong French accent pitched up claiming to be Nicholas, the family welcomed him with open arms. BS. Nicholas' mother and Jason, at the very least, knew what happened to him because THEY were what probably happened to him. My heart breaks for Nicholas, he had a terrible start in life and then he was denied a chance to make a better future for himself. Probably by his own family.

I've seen the movie The Imposter about 4 times. Somehow, you provided more information. It answered so many lingering questions I had.
