Now imagine what female travelers endure… My best friend’s grandma went to Morocco, Libya (only Tripoli) and Egypt. She went with her 15 grandson (my friend’s brother) and 13 granddaughter (cousin). She spent less than a day out in both Morocco and Egypt and then refused to go out of the hotel room. They tried to scam them everywhere. They succeed multiple times. A man threatened to hit the boy, because my friend’s brother realized they were being scammed and he tried to take their money back. The girl, 13 year old, only a young girl was chased several blocks. Like grown as men in packs followed them during minutes and even an hour. They tried to get my friend’s brother to sell them the girl. They were very weird asking for money taking them to “better places.” My friend’s grandma had recently retired and she had always wanted to go to Egypt, but she came back not being able to say a single good thing about that country

I have been coming to Morocco for years and I am completely in love with the country. As long as you stay away from all tourist areas. The native people are super hospitable and so humble.

I went to Morocco two years ago in 2022. It has very beautiful scenery, like the Atlas mountains and the Sahara Desert. However the people constantly tried to scam us and the vibes in the souks were very sketchy. I never felt comfortable the whole time I was there, I wouldn't recommend it.

After 3 months in Turkey i couldn't take the hospitality anymore. I felt like i was ripping the country off. I just got passed around from wonderful family to wonderful family

Been to Morocco a lot, have even been living there for a while, Moroccan people are very kind, gentle and welcoming.
You just need to avoid touristic places and get off the beaten path

I went to Morocco about 5 years ago. Beautiful views, great food! But locals tried to scam my family multiple times. Kids from Marrakesh tried to steal my phone, my sister was pursued by some teenagers…

After my friends experience I'll skip it Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt.
Don't give money to people who hate you.

Nah so my experience in Morocco was that you have the scammers and market vendors who are very pushy, but you’ve also got absolutely amazing and kind interesting people also, it’s a mix but people there really respect if you wear something like a jalebi.

my family went to a morroccan restautant growing up about once a month and the chef would always bring us free food, make a point to talk to us every time we were there, brought me and my sister clothes back from morrocco, and when his restaurant closed bc of rents raising he offered to come cook for us at our house before he moved away. i think there are probably some really great moroccans out there like him off the beaten path

You know, I've actually been hearing that the touristy areas have gotten a lot pushy lately where to the point if you're not outright persistent they won't leave you alone & this hasn't been the case at all for a long long time. Obviously these type of people don't represent Moroccan hospitality AT ALL but rather ruin it for first time tourists which sucks because you don't get to fully experience the beautiful vibes of the country. Hopefully the situation improves by the next time you visit.

We should also do a “which country grows the best weed” list too.

Why do people continue to go to tourist areas like Marrakech 😭my husband is Moroccan and Moroccans are the kindest people on earth. He’s from a small city in the south so there are not a lot of tourists there and the vibes are amazing. People are so friendly and welcoming. Give small cities a chance!!! Love from Italy 🇮🇹🇲🇦

I keep seeing people saying "just avoid places with tourism" is there tourism there because there is something to see? Isn't that why it's popular? (I've never traveled so I don't know much) My English is not very good so sorry for any mistakes

I had a similar experience. I did encounter some great people, however I also came across more people that tried to scam or lie or trick me.
Plus some very inappropriate actions towards my girlfriend.

Would have to agree, very similar to my experience
