I live in Egypt for a year now. And what I’ve noticed is that when they figure out you’re not from this country or you don’t speak their language. They start getting really greedy . And that’s the PROBLEM

As an egyptian, i can't thank you enough for clarifying this issue. Those despicable scammers destroyed our reputation and i can fully understand why many tourists refuse to visit again. We as locals get scammed too.

I was last in Egypt in 2004 (so before the Arab Spring revolutions) and I pretty much had a similar experience. An added bonus for me was that at the time I had a bit of an Afro that made me look like a character from a popular TV show, so everywhere I went random people on the street would just yell out the character's name at me with a huge smile, sometimes with whole groups cheering me on (this was before the ubiquity of phone cameras, so no one came up for a selfie). Life-loving, fun bunch the Egyptian people.

As an egyptian, i can admit the local culture is what gives egypt the living with the people cities in the coffees and stuff, especially in ramadan its so alive
