Great stuff George, i really like that you cover both the professional products and methods and the big box / more budget friendly options as well. I have transitioned to mainly professional products because with effectiveness and how long / far those products typically go its usually an overall financial savings despite more up front costs. But for those who just want to go to the big box store route there are some effective products and methods that you continually highlight. Even myself if i am in a time crunch / need a product right then and there i still once in a while grab something from a big box store.

For the pre-emergent, is it typical for weeds to still emerge, and then become injured and then stunted from growth- I have some that emerged, but are yellowish at the bottom- and then when I pull them they have like no real roots.

If you are at a place like Lowes or HD, make sure you look to see it is made for your grass. My local Lowe's has stuff for Northern lawns and not St Augustine grass. I am in Texas- most ALL of our grass is St Augustine
