The 1st hack is to Use the 4, 7, 8 breathing technique. This is a really easy breathing technique you can do when you are trying to sleep. It is just 4 seconds breathing in, 7 seconds holding your breath, then 8 seconds breathing out. This technique allows you to relax and will not only help you sleep, but it is also extremely beneficial if you are feeling anxious.

The 2nd hack is to Focus on trying to stay awake, rather than focusing on falling asleep. So this is basically just reverse physcology and what it does is that it prevents feelings such as sleep anxiety to keep you awake. All you do, is just try to focus on staying awake and try not to think about falling asleep.

The 3rd hack is to Clear your mind by thinking about 1 specific colour. This is one of my favourite meditation and relaxation methods. So basically try to think of one colour and allow it to fill your head. This should also clear your head and make it much easier for you to fall asleep.

The 4th hack is to Meditate, do yoga or read. Something you can do before you go to sleep or even during the day is to meditate, do yoga or read. This will allow you to be more mindful and relaxed,and will clear your thoughts, again making it much easier to sleep.

The 5th hack is to Listen to music or ASMR. You can do this right before sleeping or while you try to sleep. Basically just listen to some calming music like classical music or jazz, OR you can listen to ASMR. There are many ASMR videos that you can listen to which are specifically for trying to fall asleep.

The 6th hack is to Avoid staring at your clock. I know that when I am having a lot of trouble sleeping, I tend to look at my clock quite a lot, but you should always always avoid this as it only increases sleep anxiety. If you really can’t fight the urge, either hide your clock or put it somewhere, where you cannot see it.

The 7th hack is to Stay away from electronics 1 hour before sleeping. Electronics can be extremely harmful to your sleep as the artificial blue light disrupts the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates the body’s sleep cycle, therefore electronics disrupt your sleep. Try to stay away from your phone and laptop an hour before sleeping.

The 8th hack is to Turn your phone on silent. I find that often I receive notifications on my phone while I am trying to sleep, and it can become very distracting and therefore prevent me from sleeping. Turn your phone on silent and put do not disturb on right before you go to bed.

The 9th hack is to Develop a consistent sleeping schedule. Try to keep a consistent sleeping schedule so that your body clock can get used to sleeping at least 8 hours. Try to go at least 1 week on a sleeping schedule and you’ll find falling asleep AND waking up on time will become much much easier.

The 10th hack is to Be mindful of your caffeine intake. I know that coffee is many people’s best friend BUT if you have many restless nights were you are just tossing and turning, consider minimising your caffeine intake. A good way to do this is avoid anything with caffeine after lunch.

The 11th hack is Try aromatherapy. Not only does aromatherapy help you relax, but it also makes it much easier for you to sleep. Basically all you do is just infuse some essential oils. I would definitely recommend the lavender scent as it is known to calm you.

The 12th hack is to Eat dinner earlier. You may have noticed that sleeping on a full stomach can be extremely hard AND uncomfortable. Try to have dinner earlier than usual, around 2 to 3 hours before you go to bed.

The 13th hack is If you can’t sleep for 30 minutes, get up and do something for 5 minutes. It is actually proven that once you have tossed and turned for 30 minutes, the likelihood of you sleeping is actually much lower compared to if you just got up and did something for 5 minutes. In those 5 minutes try to do something relaxing like reading or listening to music.

The 14th hack is to Avoid exercising before sleep.

The 15th hack is to Avoid napping throughout the day.

If u get sleep paralysis, don’t sleep on your back u have a higher chance of getting it so sleep on your side cuz I get sleep paralysis when ever I sleep on my back rarely
