Every Chicago native who has been around the city a lot can tell you that specific neighborhoods, but not sides of the city are dangerous. Englewood on the South Side maybe the worst and Austin on the West Side but its gentrifying fast. For families: Lincoln Park. For single 20s to early 30s, Wicker Park, or River North especially if you work downtown Work on the south side, choose Hyde Park. Working on the west side, Logan Square, again Wicker Park, Humbolt park is up and coming, or choose the Northwest neighborhood of Bucktown if you want to commute to work downtown.

People who grew up in Chicago rarely reference the Loop. We say "downtown." The Loop is one area. Downtown's center is near the Sears Tower. Chicagoans usually don't calls it the Willis Tower. Downtown southern edge is the South Loop, but includes River North, Streeterville, Millennial Park, and downtown ends near the Magnificent mile on the north.

Going in I wanted to be close to downtown but over the months I’ve found some hidden neighborhood Gems! The place I got has 2 metra stops, Blue Line, and walkable. Also I wanted a bigger place!

Yeah. People from rural areas have a different perception of time. When cousins visit and ask how far Wrigleyville from Greektown or Little Italy. And I'm like 5 miles give or take. And then they're like oh so like 10 minutes. And I just belly laugh and am like more like a hour.

That's good advice. I did research on neighborhoods when I was deciding where to move to.

For me it's always been dollar per sq. ft, amenities and utilities, proximity to public transportation and to work. Never cared if it was popular or if it was close to downtown.

Number 1 neighborhood to live in for me is Lincoln park. Second lakeview, third Southport, fourth roscoe village, fifth old town, sixth wrigleyville.

For me wicker park, Bucktown, is too close to Humboldt, a lot of the crime in the area has to do with that. Also Logan square I don’t feel is a great area either.

I actually know exactly where I want to live when I do move there, or at least a general idea of the neighborhood I want to move to.

I was born in Chicago in 1942, and I lived o he South side, and I was safe. 1970 started to get WORST and deadly, and I had to leave, before I had to be a body, or catch a body. I am 78 now, and I have traveled the world on vacations and retirement. You can be attacked anywhere. apartments were being robbed at Columbus Plaza, and I lived there for 16 years. Home robbed and burned down by people I tried to help I had insurance, and God took care of all, who tried to attack

Great video! What neighborhood would you recommend for an introvert who wants a good amount of access to nature?
